Sports bras get bounce-tested at HerRoom!

December 28, 2007 by Mandolina

HerRoom Lingerie We Buy for OurselvesYes, you read it right, “bounce-tested”. Wouldn’t it be great knowing before even trying a sports bra how good it’ll support your babies? HerRoom.com realised that and decided to put up videos of their sports bra range — tested out by a busty 34D model. Enjoyable for men and women alike! 😀 All the sports bras are recorded on video both front and profile on a jogging model.

Champion Underwire Sports Bra 161“I wanted to give our shoppers unbiased information they couldn’t find anywhere else – not even in a retail store. The videos provide an impartial and equal comparison since the same model is wearing all the bras. Now you can truly know before you buy,” said Timima Edmark, CEO of HerRoom.com. “I believe it shows valuable information that every woman should see. It’s also patent pending.”

I don’t think I still have to stress the importance of a good sports bra here — so use the herroom info to your own advantage, girls! 🙂

(The HerRoom.com sports bra ranges include: Champion, Anita, Bendon, Enell, Donna Karen, Goddess, Lily of France, Moving Comfort, Naturana and Panache. A huge selection!)

Elle Macpherson Intimates Spring 2008

December 10, 2007 by Krista

Once again, Elle Macpherson Intimates has not disappointed with an incredible spring collection inspired by the spirit of the 18th Century French opulence. Evoking a playful, sophisticated sexiness, the collection features an absolutely exquisite color palette which accentuates the fashionable, modern take on vintage pieces. I love the collection because every item is designed to work with your curves and enhance your figure. Not only is the collection beautiful, but also accessible to a wide range of women with bras through an E cup and panties through XL.

I was fortunate enough to see the pieces up close and personal so I can vouch that they are as amazing as they look in pictures. That wasn’t the only treat. The namesake of the brand (yes, the Elle Macpherson) showed me her personal favorites in the collection!

So, what are my favorites? There are quite a few, but I’ll give you the highlights of what you should check out month to month.

In February, the EMI, corsetry-inspired staple Dentelle arrives in Strawberry Ice, a rich pink with contrasting lemon trim. March brings a color palette including a soft, angelic pink and vibrant peacoat blue. Ornez is particularly glamorous featuring a stretch silk layered with embroidery and lace. In April, Rumeur is sure to be a fan favorite. The half-cup contour bra, in stretch printed satin of cream and warm charcoal, flatters any bust line with its lace and grosgrain ribbon trim. I am especially a fan of the coordinating bikini. With its sheer back, it leaves just enough to the imagination.

For May, I like the gathered look of the vintage-inspired Signet in Warm Charcoal (seen here in Angelwing Pink). In June, be sure to check out Adorn. Sheer mesh in Spanish nude is accented by exposed construction detailing. Delightful! Lastly, for July, I love the lush wine coloring of the feminine, half-cup Artistry collection (seen here in Peacoat Blue).

Even more sophistication is found in the Boudoir collection. I like the Antique Green chemise. A silky little something with French lace cups is classic and elegant. The unique and striking contrast between the apricot and powder blue is lovely in the Dusky Apricot collection.

There are many other options in the Spring collection, so do some investigating on your own and let us know what you think in our forums. Elle Macpherson Intimates are sold at a number of retail locations including Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, and boutiques as well as online at Bare Necessities and Her Room.

Lingerie Americas – Creative Solutions

August 14, 2007 by Krista

One of my favorite parts of reporting on the latest trends is finding the new innovations and creative solutions to our most common problems. For issues such as visible panty lines and headlights, when our every day fare will just not work, we are always on the lookout for some new solution. Featured below are my favorite new finds!

Nundies“So-long-thong! Bye-by-briefs!” If this sounds like something you want say, I suggest you try Nundies. Nudies are a new and comfortable alternative to avoid the dreaded VPL! These one-time use, disposable inserts adhere to the inside of your pants eliminating the need for traditional panties. These soft, tulip-shaped “anti-panties” are not only practical, but also fun as they are available in a range of colors and patterns. From the standard “naughty black” and “blushing buff” to the assorted pastels, you can match your every mood!

I recently tried them out and am already a huge fan! These alternative underwear are definitely the new item you should have in your arsenal. Nundies are comfortable, easy to insert, and offer you the freedom to be VPL worry free from the dance floor to the board room.

Nundies are making their way around the US at over 120 boutiques and specialty stores as well as a Nundiesfew of the leading department stores like Neiman Marcus and Henri Bendel. They are also now available in Canada and Mexico! I assume all you European trendsetters are not far behind. Also, Nundies are available online at nundiesundies.com, blissworld.com, and herroom.com.

Bezi's Bra DiscsAnother find, Bezi Bra Discs from Edith’s. This a solution to that (sometimes) pesky headlights problem. While many of the previous solutions we discussed involved disposable adhesives, these engineer designed and patented discs are reusable and thus provide a more lasting solution. Available in blush and mocha, bra discs are designed to be worn under a bra and are suitable for women of all shapes and sizes. The non-latex material is comfortable, will not irritate most skin, and is easy to clean.I recently gave these a test drive and was overwhelmingly happy with the product. After they were set in place, I forgot I even had them on! They were super comfortable and didn’t cause any skin irritations. Bezi Bra Discs are easy to use and transport as they come in a small carrying case.

See the website for additional details.

Fit Details for Le Mystere No.9

June 18, 2007 by Kelly

Le Mystere No.9We brought you news earlier about a new line of bras, Le Mystere No.9, made specifically for women with breast implants. While I understood the basic idea that women who have breast implants may need a different bra, I confess I didn’t know much about what the specific changes and challenges were in finding bras for augmented breasts. However, we just got word from Le Mystere about the specific changes that you’ll find in this special line. Details:

  • Regular bras have a conical shape that simply doesn’t work with augmented breasts. The No.9 line is a bit different in that it is designed to compliment the shape of the breast implant and the anatomic changes that occur after augmentation.
  • The underwire of a traditional bra is an ovoid shape that doesn’t fit or support breast implants. Breast implants have a smaller base diameter than natural breasts, so the No.9 underwire is designed to support this rounder, smaller base diameter which allows the augmented breast to fit correctly in the underwire.
  • Augmented breasts often have more projection and wider cleavage than natural breasts because high profile breast implants are ideal for women with narrower ribcages. These high profile implants require more depth in a bra. Therefore, the center gore of traditional bras is too narrow and causes a bowstringing of the bra, causing a loss of support.

Le Mystere No9 Strapless PlungeLe Mystere also offers demonstrations for plastic surgeons’ patients, so if you are interested in this line it would be worth calling up your surgeon to see if there will be one in your area, where you can get more information directly from a Le Mystere fit consultant.

This line is now available online from Bare Necessities, HerRoom, Nordstrom, and Arianne on Edward.

How do you Fleur’t?

June 15, 2007 by Krista

lulu's delites boypant by fleur'tImagine buttery softness next to your skin. Imagine true comfort that allows your transition from day to evening attire without the worry of those annoying panty lines. Now imagine that it is sassy and sweet.

Well, imagine no more! Made of a special rayon/spandex blend, the Fleur’t ‘lulu’s delites’ boypant is a little piece of heaven. Not only is this best selling item super comfortable, but it also puts the fun in functional! The feminine and flirty lace edging makes it a prettier option than its granny panty counterparts. Now that it is summer in New York (and very hot), I’m an even bigger fan of the boy short. Summer for me means lots of dresses, and in case of that inopportune, wind-blowing-up-my-dress-like-Marilyn-Monroe situation, olivia bralet and boypant by fleur't the extra coverage a boy short provides is essential. Available in an assortment of flavorful, basic colors (13!) and a slew of seasonal colors (to match all your dresses), these well designed undergarments are worth every penny.

And that’s not all. While the boypant is the signature item of Nancy Yoo’s Fleur’t, the line offers an entire range of fun, flirty, and comfortable bralets, camis, chemises, and thongs that will keep you cool during the hot summer nights. Unless of course you cause some fire of your own.

lulu's cami and boypant set by fleur't

The ‘lulu’s delites’ collection includes, in addition to the boypant, a bralet, cami, and thong option. Other collections in “The Basics” include ‘colette,’ a floral net lace, ‘tabitha,’ a nylon allover rose lace (very pretty!), and ‘amber,’ rayon spandex overlayed with cross-dyed lace (and also featured in my first bridal installment).

The fall collections feature rich, vibrant tones like wine, chocolate, and cocoa – sounds delicious! I’m looking forward to checking out the chemises as well as the cozy capri pants perfect for relaxing around the house or somewhere more exciting!

cami and long pant by fleur'tLucky for us, in 1999, Nancy Yoo, decided to forgo her plans of studying photography or music, and began Fleur’t. What started on a few cutting tables in a garage within months was selling out at the most exclusive boutiques in NY and LA. Almost 8 years since the line launched, Fleur’t is available at retailers nationwide and soon, internationally. With such growth, the company is now looking to open retail space in LA (let’s hope NY is soon to follow) as well as bring you innovative, organic cochemise by fleur'ttton sleepwear. Wear pretty underwear and save the Earth at the same time? Ingenious!

Fleur’t products are found at a number of retailers (online try hipundies.com or herroom.com) and range from $22 for thongs to $56 for camisoles. And believe me, they are worth the investment!

For more information, see the website. Happy fleurt’ing!
