Panache

Bounce! Bounce! Bounce!

September 22, 2011 by Kelly

Panache Sportsbra
The panache sports bra that reduces bounce by 65 per cent.

Sound familiar? If you’ve ever run down a flight of stairs, jumped rope with your nieces, or tried a Zumba class, you’re no doubt familiar with that bouncing feeling. But Panache, a favorite brand among busty ladies, believes they have a remedy for that unsightly and painful bounce with their brand new sports bra.

The bra, slated to be released on October 1, is three years in the making. After extensive research, head designer Clare Fallon and her team at Panache enlisted the help of Loughborough Sports Technology Institute in Leicestershire. During their studies, the team outfitted a 32E model with 3-D motion sensors and set her to work on a treadmill. They found that while rival sports bras reduce bounce by a respectable 65%, the new Panache sports bra is even more effective with a bounce reduction of 83%. And if you look at this photo of British javelin thrower Goldie Sayers modeling the bra, I think you’ll agree that it somehow still manages to be one of the more attractive options out there! It also features a clip that allows you to convert the bra to a racerback style, so you can still wear it with your favorite workout tanks.

Most conventional sports bras use compression to press the breast tissue down against the rib cage. Panache instead opted to use an encapsulation style, which holds each breast separately in molded cups and controls movement from all angles. They claim that the product is as effective as “two hands holding the breasts.” (You can’t tell me you haven’t wished you could hold your boobs yourself while running!)

Interested? The bra will be available in D-H cups, and will set you back about £35. Basic black and white will be the first available in October, but you’ll have to wait until November for fashion colors. The style has so far only been referred to as simply “Panache Sports Bra.”

Are there any sports you’ve avoided because your sports bra didn’t offer enough support?

The Undie Awards 2009 Winners

June 16, 2009 by Bert

America has voted. The ballots have been counted and the results are in! Women and men have cast more than 20,000 votes for their favorite underwear by type, brand and style as part of the 2009 Undie Awards. The Undie AwardsWinners were announced today via the awards’ website, www.theundies.com.

Over a one-month period, voters of all shapes and sizes anonymously participated in the awards, which cover bras, panties and shapewear.

Now in their third year, the Undie Awards are designed to celebrate all things lingerie. In addition to encouraging voters to nominate their preferred pair for greatness, the awards also seek to educate consumers on how to best pick out underwear that is right for them.

To this end, voters in the awards were asked to “let (their) body type do the voting” by entering their age range and height and then characterizing their body type, based on – (for the women) – bra and panty sizes as well as bust, tummy and bottom type OR – (for the men) – chest, waist and leg type as well as waist size.

“Participating in the Undie Awards provides women and men with real peer-to-peer information they can use to select the right fit and style, in tops and bottoms,” said Tomima Edmark, lingerie & undergarment expert. “What’s more, the awards introduce voters to brands they might be unfamiliar with, especially via the ‘select’ winner categories, which are determined by our staff as a way of highlighting smaller brands.”

The Undie Awards Winners

This year’s Overall Favorite Bra (Average Figure) is the Vanity Fair Body Sleeks Contour Stretch Bra 75-266icon. This bra is claiming highest honors for the second year in a row, due to its simple style, comfort and cleavage. One voter wrote, “hands down the most comfortable bra I’ve ever worn.” Sizes range from 32B to 42C.

The Overall Favorite Bra (Full Figure) is the Panache Superbra Tango II Underwire Balconnet Bra 3251icon. Women chose this stylish bra for its fit and comfort, not to mention its support. One voter wrote, “…love this bra. For my size it has THE BEST support!” Band sizes range from 30-44 and cup sizes from D-JJ.

The Overall Favorite Panty is the Olga Secret Hug Nylon Scoop Halfpant Panty 913icon, which features a “scoop” design with a center back seam that keeps the panties where they belong while providing natural definition. This brief wears well and is the perfect everyday panty for sizes 5-9.
