It’s October which means it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Let’s paint the town pink and save the ta-tas! Want to know how your purchases can be donated toward this worth cause? See below.

Affinitas

Affinitas has teamed up with HerRoom.com to donate 20% of proceeds of the Morgan Padded Bra in Blush Pink and the Parfait Kelly Wire Bra in Deep Orchid to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Bare Necessities

For every bra purchased between now and 10/31, Bare Necessities will donate 25 cents to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Help them reach their goal of $10,000!

Cosabella

“Prettie in Pink” is a dedicated shopping area on shop.cosabella.com which features pink colored garments in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. 10% of all sales from this section will be donated to Bra-Ha-Ha, a charitable organization that supports local breast cancer centers in spreading prevention through mammography and early detection awareness.

Hanky Panky

Hanky Panky has partnered with NY-based designer, Anna Sui, to create the limited edition Anna Ver Sui collection. The unique, purple patterned collection features 7 pieces (including the original thong celebrating its 25th birthday this year!). 10% of sales will benefit Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, a charitable initiative of the CFDA.

Expert Advice from Jenny Altman of Bare Necessities!

June 11, 2011 by Inbound

We are so excited to have Jenny Altman, of BareNecessities.com (and all around fashion expert!), as our guest blogger today! She’s here to let you know her tips and suggestions for what to wear underneath it all for your upcoming occasions! See below for her fabulous advice. Thanks, Jenny!

So, it’s the big day. Whether that means it’s your prom, graduation, wedding, or reunion, you have spent a long time planning the outfit. I know you’ve got your dress, shoes, and jewelry all mapped out, but what about what to wear under the dress? Don’t leave that as an afterthought. Since you get dressed starting from the inside-out, it’s important to plan your outfit this way.
Here are a few key tips:

1- Buy the dress in your right size. That means the size you are now, not the size you are hoping to be. You always look slimmer wearing a dress that fits.

2- Keep it simple. Including jewelry and hair/makeup. You don’t want to look back at this big event 10 years from now and wonder what you were thinking. Classic never goes out of style.

3- Dress appropriately for your age. Whether you are 16 and going to a prom, or the mother of the bride, think what style suits your age best. You can still be a hot mama in a dress with sleeves. Nobody needs to see your entire back and all of your cleavage on this special day!

4- Dress appropriately for your body. Play-up your best features and play-down your least appealing. For example, if your breasts are just too big for wedding photos, don’t feel the need to go strapless just because you thought Kate Middleton might (FYI – she didn’t). You look best in styles made for your body, whether it’s mini, mermaid, or full-length.

The under-arsenal:

It’s very important to pick the proper underpinnings that suit your dress and you. I find all my favorite underpinnings at BareNecessities.com. If you have a chance to match undergarments to the dress before any final fittings, that is key! Buy a few key undergarments to take with you to your fitting. If you aren’t having fittings, buy a few undergarments items and try them on with the dress at least a week before the event. Stand in the dress, move around in it, and most importantly, look at yourself from the back. Don’t forget to look at yourself in the daylight. You may realize your dress is more sheer than it looked in the fitting room; which may call for a slip!

It’s very important to buy the right size for all my suggested underpinnings below. If a bra isn’t fitting right, you’ll have spillage. Even worse, the bra will be falling down on you all night. For shapewear, go bigger. It’s best that the shapewear holds you in to give you a smooth, slim look. Lastly, always go nude or black. Nude is best everything that isn’t black, even a crisp white wedding dress.

Menswear Trends at Bare Necessities

November 12, 2009 by Krista

Here on TLP, we focus a large amount of our commentary on women’s lingerie.  However, once in a while, some menswear pieces strike our fancy. Currently, there is a new wave in menswear towards “fitwear” (i.e. shapewear for men).

Leading online retailer, Bare Necessities, has these new, innovative pieces flying off the shelves!  Designed to give men a more slender midsection by slimming love handles and sculpting torsos, shaping tees by RIPT Fusion and Equmen are the ideal item for guys who want midesection control.  And it isn’t just the midsections having all the fun!  Underwear by 2(x)ist and Calvin Klein also provide support.

RIPT Fusion tees come in both crew neck and v-neck styles.  Giving firm control from the chest to hips, this moisture wicking tee will keep you cool and dry.  The elongated design eliminates roll up so you can focus on fun and not fixing your t-shirt!   Retailing at $58 each, RIPT Fusion tees are a great investment.

Equmen Firm Control Shaping tees are available in V-Neck, Tank Top, and Long Sleeve.   Developed by physical therapists, these tees are designed to support core muscles and improve posture while slimming and streamling as well as controlling body temperature.  The seamless, stretch nylon blend is also tagless for comfort.  Equmen tees retail between $89 and $109.

For the gentlemen needing coverage in just the waist area, 2(x)ist’s Form Contour Pouch Brief with Shaping Waistband is a great option.  This stretch cotton brief provides moderate control as it instantly slims and smooths the waist.  The brief also features a fly front and contour pouch.  At $18, it’s a steal!

Calvin Klein is showing support through it’s Body Boost Rear Boosting Trunk.  With hidden support to give a boost, this trunk-style boxer brief comfortably hugs your body.  The $22 undergarment also features a 2 ply contour pouch.  Calvin Klein also provides a Body Boost Hip Brief and Body Boost Trunk option.
Happy shopping, gentlemen!  Bare Necessities will take care of you.  Here’s to looking slim and trim during the holiday season.

The Joys of Commando Hosiery!

October 25, 2009 by Krista

commando hosieryI recently told you about the great new hosiery options at Bare Necessities for fall.  I mentioned my excitement about Commando venturing into the world of hosiery.  I assumed that their tights would be great based on the impeccable design talent that created their legendary thong . Now I can tell you that they actually are!  I tested out the tights the other day and I am totally hooked!   I can confidently say these are the most comfortable and flattering pair of tights I have ever worn.

My favorite part of the tights is the waistband. In true Commando form, the wide, laser-cut waistband lies flat against your body leaving no lines under your most snugly fitting dresses eliminating those unsightly bulges that typical, elastic band tights leave. The tights themselves are soft, smooth, and sleek.  To add a little pizzazz, the waistbands of the black and brown tights are not only available in solids, but in paisley as well.  My wish is that the hosiery will be so successful that they branch out into patterns, textures, and more.

Retailing at $34 (and worth every penny!), Commando hosiery is available online at Bare Necessities and on the Her Look website.
