Bounce! Bounce! Bounce!

September 22, 2011 by Kelly

Panache Sportsbra
The panache sports bra that reduces bounce by 65 per cent.

Sound familiar? If you’ve ever run down a flight of stairs, jumped rope with your nieces, or tried a Zumba class, you’re no doubt familiar with that bouncing feeling. But Panache, a favorite brand among busty ladies, believes they have a remedy for that unsightly and painful bounce with their brand new sports bra.

The bra, slated to be released on October 1, is three years in the making. After extensive research, head designer Clare Fallon and her team at Panache enlisted the help of Loughborough Sports Technology Institute in Leicestershire. During their studies, the team outfitted a 32E model with 3-D motion sensors and set her to work on a treadmill. They found that while rival sports bras reduce bounce by a respectable 65%, the new Panache sports bra is even more effective with a bounce reduction of 83%. And if you look at this photo of British javelin thrower Goldie Sayers modeling the bra, I think you’ll agree that it somehow still manages to be one of the more attractive options out there! It also features a clip that allows you to convert the bra to a racerback style, so you can still wear it with your favorite workout tanks.

Most conventional sports bras use compression to press the breast tissue down against the rib cage. Panache instead opted to use an encapsulation style, which holds each breast separately in molded cups and controls movement from all angles. They claim that the product is as effective as “two hands holding the breasts.” (You can’t tell me you haven’t wished you could hold your boobs yourself while running!)

Interested? The bra will be available in D-H cups, and will set you back about £35. Basic black and white will be the first available in October, but you’ll have to wait until November for fashion colors. The style has so far only been referred to as simply “Panache Sports Bra.”

Are there any sports you’ve avoided because your sports bra didn’t offer enough support?

Ooh La Latex: Custom Latex Lingerie from London

July 2, 2011 by Kelly

When it comes to latex lingerie, I have to admit my knowledge is very limited. It’s an area of lingerie I don’t feel like I’ve explored enough-but every now and then, pictures like the ones below will have my jaw on the floor and have me asking myself “why not?”! I think you’ll agree, all of these pieces from Ooh La Latex are stunning!

Ooh La Latex is made by an experienced latex designer based in London. While the garments are offered in standard sizing, they can also be made to measure-for free! Ooh La Latex takes requests for custom items and can also alter designs a bit (for example, if you wish to have a different color). In addition to lingerie, they also offers latex clothing and accessories. You can find Ooh La Latex on Etsy or at OohLaLatex.com.

Sexy Period Panties for “That Time of the Month”

June 27, 2011 by Kelly

Do you remember wayyyyy back in 2008, when we told you about the winners of the R. I. Elevator Competition? They designed leak-resistant panties to help women feel confident any day of the month (but especially during their periods). Well, the company is finally up on its feet and selling like crazy! Renamed Sexy Period, the line includes bikinis, hipsters, and cheeky panties that protect you from embarrassing leaks and stains.

The fabric Sexy Period uses has 3 layers that accomplish this task. There are 2 absorbent layers (closest to your body) and 1 leak resistant layer (furthest from your body). The absorbent layers capture and wick away liquid to keep your skin dry, while the leak resistant layer traps spills and prevents leaks. The inner fabric layers are also black, so you don’t have to worry about yucky stains.

When we first introduced you to the line in that original post, I wondered how these panties would be different from OnGassmer Luxury Liners (which have unfortunately been discontinued now). Well, there are two big differences that make Sexy Period a far superior product as far as I’m concerned: 1) the designs are actually pretty darn cute and attractive, and 2) the leak-resistant fabric covers almost the whole panty (not just the gusset). This makes it not only more effective (I imagine), but also a lot more attractive because the whole section of the design is the black leak-resistant fabric, not just a random black section of fabric in the crotch.

I ordered a Blossoming Beauty bikini for myself, and I really like it. To be honest I haven’t had an occasion that really tested the leak-resistance powers yet, but it is reassuring to have that extra backup protection in case I ever do need it.You can see more or purchase at SexyPeriod.com.

Introducing The Big Bra Bar, a One-Stop Shop for DD+

June 17, 2011 by Kelly

Today I want to tell you about a brand new shop: The Big Bra Bar. TBBB is an online store that caters specifically to ladies who wear DD+ bras – but it doesn’t only carry lingerie! TBBB also carries swimwear, accessories, and clothing tailored specifically for a busty silhouette. It’s a brilliant idea for a demographic that has normally had to search high and low for properly-fitting garments in all categories. Now, we can find everything we need on one site!

Brands include MissFit UK clothing, Slinky Dip swimwear, and 2wenty8 lingerie. 2wenty8 is a pinup-inspired lingerie line that focuses on 28-32 D-HH bras. It’s developed specifically with a small back/large chest combo in mind, and what I really love is that the cups have minimal coverage so they truly show off your figure! These are my favorites:

As for swimwear, Slinky Dip is the star at The Big Bra Bar. Slinky Dip is a range of swimwear that is not only targeted toward large chests, but is affordable, too! A full set retails for £32, which is about how much just half a bikini would cost you from other brands that cater to the 28-36 DD-H crowd. Slinky Dip bikinis have features like fully adjustable straps, hidden cups, and strong underwires to keep you supported and secure.

Like we said, The Big Bra Bar also has clothing – but since we focus on lingerie and swimwear here at TLP, you’ll have to visit TheBigBraBar.com to see more of that (or to see more of 2wenty8 and Slinky Dip).

Freya Looking for Blogger

April 6, 2011 by Kelly

freya bloggerFreya, favorite brand of large-cup women everywhere, is looking for a new blogger! They are searching for someone who is passionate about Freya and loves to talk about it. In return, the blogger will receive lots of free goodies like:

  • New set of lingerie or swimwear every month
  • Digital camera
  • Gym pass
  • VIP access to the Freya factory and Fit School
  • Passes to the annual Moda lingerie fair

To enter, just visit the Freya Facebook page, where you will be asked to give a small writing sample (or video!).  The finalists’ entries will then be posted to the Freya Facebook page for a vote.

Unfortunately, you have to be a  UK resident to enter, and I know that leaves a lot of you guys out. But I’m crossing my fingers that a TLP reader in the UK does get the job!
