Elisabetta Canalis Wows in Cavalli’s New Lingerie Campaign
February 9, 2010 by Bruna
George Clooney’s new flame Elisabetta Canalis has been picked to appear in Roberto Cavalli’s new spring/summer 2010 sultry lingerie ad campaign, which was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Cavalli said he was positive Canalis was the right girl for the job.
“For my underwear collection I was inspired by a real woman, with appeal, charisma and sensuality. Elisabetta Canalis and I have been friends for a while now, we have already worked together in the past and so I was sure she was just perfect for enhancing the spirit of this advertising campaign…and I was not wrong! Her Mediterranean beauty and intense appeal interpret an intriguing super-feminine woman…the result is amazing!”
Check out the images below and let us know if you agree with Cavalli! Do you think she looks amazing?

An Intimate Affair: Women, Lingerie and Sexuality
February 8, 2010 by Marissa
Even though the holiday gift giving season has come to a close, a good gift idea is never a bad thing (and after all, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner!). This book by Jill Fields, An Intimate Affair: Women, Lingerie and Sexuality is the perfect item for a man or woman that has an interest in lingerie and the history of undergarments.
The book explores lingerie as manufactured garments, cultural icons, and functional undergarments. It touches on a detailed history of bras, corsets, drawers, and black lingerie from introduction to modern day. Fields also talks about lingerie as presented in the media and the sexual psychology of lingerie brands.
A review on goodreads.com describes the book as, “Jill Fields’s engaging, imaginative, and sophisticated history of twentieth-century lingerie tours the world of women’s intimate apparel and arrives at nothing less than a sweeping view of twentieth-century women’s history via the undergarments they wore. Illustrated throughout and drawing on a wealth of evidence from fashion magazines, trade periodicals, costume artifacts, Hollywood films, and the records of organized labor, An Intimate Affair is a provocative examination of the ways cultural meanings are orchestrated by the “fashion-industrial complex.”
Marc Jacobs Lingerie Line in the Works
February 8, 2010 by Bruna
Although we sadly don’t have any images to share with our wonderful readers yet because production has barely begun, but Marc Jacobs’ company president, Robert Duffy (who, by the way, has just recently joined Twitter and is spilling Marc Jacobs secrets like there’s no tomorrow), told Women’s Wear Daily that the designer is planning a spring 2011 lingerie line.
Can’t you just picture all the edgy and feminine bra and panty sets Jacobs will create? Can’t wait!

Marysia Debuts Ballerina-Meets-Punk Swim Line
February 8, 2010 by Bruna
While online shopping at Urban Outfitters, I spotted a swimwear brand we haven’t talked about on TLP before. Marysia (named after its founder’s nickname) debuted to the fashion world with its cruise 2008 collection, and after a few successful seasons, Polish designer Maria Dobrzanska Reeves has now launched the swim 2010 collection taking inspiration from her childhood memories of attending ballet school.
The new ballerina-meets-punk line contrasts soft with hard, subtle with edgy and dainty with bold. Marysia accomplishes the fusion of the two opposites by incorporating high-waisted bikini bottoms paired with ruffle and rouched tops, soft pinks and subtle tones accentuated with hints of neon, heavy zippers, bold studs and other details. This line also marks the brand’s expansion into new design categories including cover-ups, loungewear and dresses.
The whole line, which was produced in the U.S., is fabricated with Reeves’ signature Italian jersey, which is environmentally-sensitive and offers UV protection. Check out some of the campaign images below and the runway footage!

Marie Jo L’Aventure Lingerie Spring/Summer 2010
February 7, 2010 by Mandolina
We try to show you the latest Marie Jo and Marie Jo L’Aventure collections every season – and this one is no different. These photos are from Marie Jo L’Aventure’s 2010 Spring/Summer collection, and don’t really show us too much unexpected or too exciting compared to last year’s Spring/Summer line… A little less prints maybe, but the styles and the colors all feel very familiar…
Now, as I was a fan last year (and in general) – I’m still a fan now. This collection shows yet again why Marie Jo is one of Europe’s main day-to-day labels, focusing on wearability, fit and fairly simple, accessible styles.

Valentine’s Day Lingerie Selections from Etsy
February 7, 2010 by Treacle
For Valentine’s Day, Treacle compiled this list of her five Etsy-based favorites. Here goes:
Valentine Bloomers by Mascherina — $45
Mascherina is a costume designer turned lingerie designer whose work has appeared in such high end boutiques as Kiki de Montparnasse and Coco de Mer. Her work is all about the fantasy of dressing…and undressing.
Pink Nylon Heart Hot Shorts & Strappy Bow Bralette by ClareBare — $90
A graduate of Parson’s School of Design, ClareBare was recently featured in Bust magazine. Her design philosophy is centered around making women feel good about themselves, and who can disagree with that?
Bridgitte Babydoll by Gilda & Pearl — $104
Even though Gilda & Pearl is now available on Figleaves, some of their designs are still exclusive to Etsy, like this frothy wisp of a gown derived from a vintage 1950’s pattern. Delightful.
Little Red Riding Hood Corselette by Kiss Me Quick — $199
The word “Va-va-voom!” comes to mind when I see this delightful girdle dress. Fashionable and functional, Kiss Me Quick promises to bring out the burlesque babe in every woman.
Victorian Underbust Corset by La Belle Fairy — $299
One can’t talk about high-end lingerie without mentioning at least one corset maker, and La Belle Fairy is that person on Etsy. Custom made and reasonably priced, she offers a range of styles to fit every figure. I recommend starting off with a nice basic one, like this black coutil underbust.
Check out Treacle’s blog called Confessions of a Lingerie Addict, if you’re not a fan like us already, that is (she’s giving away Hanky Panky, by the way…)!
Camisole/Bra Combination Pieces
February 7, 2010 by Kelly
Many women incorporate lacey camisoles into their daily outfits to help add a bit of femininity to an outfit or perhaps get a little more coverage for a day at the office. But sometimes it can get annoying to wear multiple layers – maybe it’s too hot out to wear so much clothing, or your camisole hem peeks out the bottom of your top. Luckily, plenty of brands are releasing their own versions of the “cami bra” to help solve these problems. A cami bra is basically just what it sounds like – it’s a regular bra with a swath of lace incorporated into the design of the bra intended to cover your cleavage like a regular camisole would. It helps add a bit of coverage and style to a low-cut dress or top. Here are just a few (click the images to visit the retailers’ websites):
When shopping for cami bras, be sure to shop for styles that come in actual bra sizes like 34C, 36B, or 38D. There are some cami bras out there that come in sizes like 32, 34, and 36, or S, M, and L. Unfortunately those bras aren’t likely to fit correctly because they don’t take both band and cup measurements into account, and we all know how important it is to have a bra that fits properly! There are so many cami bra options these days that there is no excuse not to buy one that will fit and flatter you the way any other bra should.
If you have recently had a mastectomy, you can find several cami bras specifically tailored to your needs at Mastectomy.com. If you’re a hard-to-find size and you can’t find a cami bra that fits you from the list above (I’m right there with you!), you may have more luck with the Cami Too we showed you in August.
