Yandy.com To Donate Portion of Halloween Costume Proceeds to Benefit Breast Cancer Research

October 13, 2011 by Mandolina

October is a time for Yandy.com, online retailer of sexy Halloween costumes, to be focusing on the busy, upcoming holiday, however this 2011 season, Yandy is also focusing energy in to a completely different field: breast cancer research and awareness. Yandy will be donating 10 per cent of all proceeds gained from the sale of the Yandy exclusive, Pink Leopard Costume to benefit breast cancer research and awareness this Halloween season.

“While, of course, our focus is on selling Halloween costumes for people to attend fun and carefree events and parties, we don’t want our customers to lose site of what else October represents; breast cancer awareness,” said Yandy’s CEO, Chad Horstman. “October is synonymous with Halloween but it’s also synonymous with getting the word out and supporting the fight against breast cancer. We want our customers to be just as passionate about this cause.”

The featured costume, the Pink Leopard Costume, features a distinctive pink leopard print with plush, faux fur, a unique look amongst standard Halloween costumes. “When we first thought up this idea, we were examining all of our animal costumes from the Halloween costumes 2011 collection and landed on this one. With it’s unique pink hue, we thought it would be the perfect fit for a campaign such as this,” said Horstman.

The Pink Leopard Costume includes a tube-style top with a lace-up back and a matching skirt with long, faux fur tail. The costume also can be enhanced with a pink leopard print, faux fur hood, matching hand warmers and legwarmers. Each piece is available for purchase separately and 10 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of each piece will be donated to aid breast cancer awareness. There is a limited run on this costume and it can only be found at Yandy.com. The costume, complete with all of the accessories, totals $231.80.

“We hope we can sell out of our stock in this costume which could mean we could be writing a check for upwards of $4,000 to benefit breast cancer research and awareness at the end of Halloween. That’s something we hope our customers can be proud to be a part of,” said Horstman.

Expert Advice from Jenny Altman of Bare Necessities!

June 11, 2011 by Inbound

We are so excited to have Jenny Altman, of BareNecessities.com (and all around fashion expert!), as our guest blogger today! She’s here to let you know her tips and suggestions for what to wear underneath it all for your upcoming occasions! See below for her fabulous advice. Thanks, Jenny!

So, it’s the big day. Whether that means it’s your prom, graduation, wedding, or reunion, you have spent a long time planning the outfit. I know you’ve got your dress, shoes, and jewelry all mapped out, but what about what to wear under the dress? Don’t leave that as an afterthought. Since you get dressed starting from the inside-out, it’s important to plan your outfit this way.
Here are a few key tips:

1- Buy the dress in your right size. That means the size you are now, not the size you are hoping to be. You always look slimmer wearing a dress that fits.

2- Keep it simple. Including jewelry and hair/makeup. You don’t want to look back at this big event 10 years from now and wonder what you were thinking. Classic never goes out of style.

3- Dress appropriately for your age. Whether you are 16 and going to a prom, or the mother of the bride, think what style suits your age best. You can still be a hot mama in a dress with sleeves. Nobody needs to see your entire back and all of your cleavage on this special day!

4- Dress appropriately for your body. Play-up your best features and play-down your least appealing. For example, if your breasts are just too big for wedding photos, don’t feel the need to go strapless just because you thought Kate Middleton might (FYI – she didn’t). You look best in styles made for your body, whether it’s mini, mermaid, or full-length.

The under-arsenal:

It’s very important to pick the proper underpinnings that suit your dress and you. I find all my favorite underpinnings at BareNecessities.com. If you have a chance to match undergarments to the dress before any final fittings, that is key! Buy a few key undergarments to take with you to your fitting. If you aren’t having fittings, buy a few undergarments items and try them on with the dress at least a week before the event. Stand in the dress, move around in it, and most importantly, look at yourself from the back. Don’t forget to look at yourself in the daylight. You may realize your dress is more sheer than it looked in the fitting room; which may call for a slip!

It’s very important to buy the right size for all my suggested underpinnings below. If a bra isn’t fitting right, you’ll have spillage. Even worse, the bra will be falling down on you all night. For shapewear, go bigger. It’s best that the shapewear holds you in to give you a smooth, slim look. Lastly, always go nude or black. Nude is best everything that isn’t black, even a crisp white wedding dress.

NY Based Unforeseen Circumstances at Journelle

May 23, 2011 by Inbound

I’m absolutely swooning over my latest brand discovery! I was at Journelle a couple of weeks ago to say hello to the lovely lingeristas there and see what was new for spring. I was impressed, as always, with the great selection of spring pieces. The color palettes were just delightful! I stopped in my tracks when I noticed a new name among my favorites – Unforeseen Circumstances. I asked Mara (one of the Journelle lovelies) about the brand and she informed me that the brand was New York based and had been in the store for only a short while. I couldn’t wait to find out more!

The Unforeseen Circumstances site features images of the intriguing vintage-inspired collection as well as other inspiration. Just like the pieces in the collection, this site has depth and character and displays an ethereal, yet rich femininity.

I look forward to bringing you more information on Unforeseen Circumstances in the coming months! For now, you can shop for a few of the items at Journelle, including my favorite, the chic Nouveau High Waisted Brief. Love!
