Towelinis for 2008

July 20, 2008 by Brenda

Born out of the aggravation of carrying a towel on the beach amidst all the other paraphernalia one hauls around when sun bathing or swimming, the Towelini creator decided that it was time to do something. So she made a wearable beach towel. Turqoise ToweliniA simple and easy to use garment, basically the Towelini is worn as a dress, skirt or cape.

Once you arrive at the beach or spa, the Towelini is removed and used as a beach blanket or towel for drying off when finished swimming. Made of one hundred percent organic cotton, the material is more absorbent and more comfortable than regular cotton. The colours include Coral, Lime Green and Turquoise Blue.

Another benefit of wearing the Towelini is saving on beach cover-ups. Not only does it avoid carrying a towel, but also, a sundress or other garment is not needed. The Towelini doubles as your towel and your dress. The website is informative instructing the users on different ways to tie the towel to make various dress or skirt styles and there is also a blog where Towelini’s progress is chronicled.

Fall/Winter 07/08 La Perla Resort

December 24, 2007 by Kelly

Here in the US, most of us are bundling up right now, and lingerie aficionados are facing the dilemma of La Perla Swimweartrying to stay sexy and warm at the same time. Of course, I know that some lucky people are planning a winter vacation away, and many of you in other parts of the world are in the middle of summer! La Perla knows this, too! They have just come out with their Fall/Winter 07/08 La Perla Resort collection.

According to La Perla, this new swimwear collection was inspired by “a fantastic era populated by pirates and noblewomen, constellated with the shining gold of imaginary treasure.” Colors like dove grey, pink, and black are paired with a lot of gold embellishments to produce “a striking, spectacular outfit” and “sophisticated style….with a modern feel.” So, how do they do it? With touches such as gold braiding, tailcoat-style embroidery, metal sequins, pirate stripes, and accessories like an 18K wraparound skirt! In true La Perla form, these pieces aren’t cheap. Expect to spend upwards of $600. But this just may be worth it if you are going on a fabulous resort vacation!

Beach Bunny Bikinis for 2007

August 27, 2007 by Mandolina

Beach Bunny American Woman Black Triangle BikiniI realize this is a bit late — but after seeing these Beach Bunny Swimwear photos on Beachwear.cc, I decided to copy the pics here for all of you to enjoy. The pics Tammi picked are her favorites, and I have to say I think some of these look absolutely gorgeous. Designer Angela Chittenden was a bikini model most of her life — so she pretty much knows the business.

Enjoy the photos — thanks to beachwear.cc!

Zimmermann Swimwear: 2008 Collection Preview

July 22, 2007 by Mandolina

Some absolutely gorgeous pieces on the catwalk in Miami during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week — and this Zimmerman show had quite a few of those. Contrary to my usual preferences, I actually adore some of the one-piece swimsuits in this show…

Enjoy the footage — as soon as we’ve got more info on these pieces or we find them in the shops for next summer we’ll try to keep you posted! 😉

Laura Soares Swimwear: An Introduction

July 12, 2007 by Mandolina

Laura Soares successfully launched her modeling career as a teenager in Brazil, and it seems like the model now turned her attention to the other side of the Brazilian bikinis: designing them. Lauro Soares Swimwear wants to mix the hot and steamy Brazilian sexiness with wearable and mixable tops and bottoms in high quality fabrics to make sure you get value for your money. The label is pretty new, but what we’re seeing on their website is very sexy indeed.

In the top photo there’s the Laura Soares Ipanema One-Piece, available for about $120 (and modeled by the queen bee herself!), is by far my favorite: the bandeau cut with silver metallic accents really do give this piece a unique and eye catching feel. A real stunner if you ask me! The bottom left is the Black Diva bikini set — just under $100 and with some pretty eye-catching gold details. In the bottom right is a real Brazilian piece, the Blue Stone bikini; in the stores for just over $100. Trapped right in the middle, the superb Marilyn Acai one-piece: another stunner!
