Objet du Désir: Brazilian Lingerie

September 18, 2008 by Rene

Objet du Désir lingerie is a romantic, sensual and exclusive line created by the French / Brazilian trio Philippine Bigorie, Melissa Monteiro and Deborah Ribeiro. All pieces are designed and handmade in Brazil, in limited quantities, using high quality materials. The end result is a comfortable line with exquisite pieces to be worn on special occasions or daily. The line’s pieces range in size from small to extra large hoping to bring more sensuality to women of all body types who appreciate great lingerie. New items are launched every month at the Ipanema showroom.

These pictures are from the Objet du Désir website. The look books are dated from 2006 and 2007. I can’t find a 2008 look book and I hope the company is doing well. The designs remind me of Mimi Holiday from Damaris. There are plenty of big bows on knickers and gathered fabrics with contrasting trim. There are also plenty of triangle bras which don’t usually work well with larger busts, so I’m not sure how well the company is doing with their goal of addressing a large range of sizes. The collection also includes intriguing one piece camisole/bodysuits with a built in suspender.

Would it be bad of me to say that I kind of like these even better than most damaris knickers?

Dear Rene, thank you for your review. I’m one of the partners of Objet du Désir and I’m glad to say we’re doing great.

We’re more an atelier than a company since we’re just 3 partners and a couple of seamstresses. Our production is very exclusive and our pieces sell out almost immediately so the pictures with the models are really just to illustrate what we’re all about. To see the new pieces we’ve been making you can visit the “objetos do desejo” link on our website.

As for the triangle bras, one of my partners is an F – which for most lingerie brands in Brazil is considered an XL cup size – and she wears all of our pieces. The larger sizes are also made with firmer materials than the smaller ones. Since the triangle is the best kind of bra for our health we want women with larger breasts to have an option that is both beautiful and comfortable.
