Brazilian Lingerie

Forum from Brazil

December 4, 2008 by Rene

Forum is a clothing company from Brazil. They remind me of Guess during the 1980s and 1990s. They lead the collection with a selection of denim. Unlike Guess during those early years, stone wash and acid wash are trends that Forum doesn’t have to bother with. The denim lines currently feature many crisp whites and natural tones.

In addition to their denim lines, Forum also offers branded apparel like glasses and lingerie. The lingerie isn’t taking a lot of chances, but it does look modern and appropriate for the Forum demographic (from the pictures, it appears to be under 28).

Forum offers flagship stores throughout Brazil. Outside of Brazil, they have spotty global representation. Some countries carry the brand through department stores while other countries just have a listed distributor. It is hard to say how the current economic climate will affect Forum’s expansion plans, but I’m sure they are looking for other relationships.

Forum’s website is at www.forum.com.br. The corporate site is in Flash and is a little awkward to navigate. Pictures are from Forum.

Fruit de la Passion: Brazilian Lingerie

September 27, 2008 by Rene

Cecilia Bourdon and Marie Alba Romeu are the sisters behind the Brazilian brand Fruit de la Passion. The sisters graduated with degrees in Fine Arts and masters in Marketing. They spent years working for various fashion and lingerie companies in Brazil and France. The sisters decided there was a market for high end lingerie in Brazil and began the company in 1994.

The duo produces two distinct product lines: Opera Diva and Grand Finale. The Opera Diva has several collections and is the vehicle for Fruit’s fine lingerie products. Grand Finale has fewer collections and is mostly ‘comfortable’ sleepwear. I’m entranced by the Opera Diva line. It has so many great pieces.

Fruit de la Passion has around 10 company stores around Brazil. I don’t think you can buy these pieces online yet, but I hope the sisters offer an e-commerce offering soon. This is the store in Rio de Janeiro

Corpo e Arte: Brazilian Lingerie

September 27, 2008 by Rene

Corpo e Arte is a Brazilian producer of lingerie. They have two lines: a lingerie line and a sleepwear line. The lingerie line is well photographed, but only contains a handful of pieces. The sleepwear line is mostly cotton pieces with chemises and pajamas. The company also produces a few pieces for men — mostly boxers.

The company sells their product through branded stores scattered throughout Brazil. Currently, I can’t find any e-commerce options, so this is another Brazilian brand experienced mostly by residents and worldly travelers.

Permita-SE – Brazilian Lingerie

September 19, 2008 by Rene

Permita-SE has produced a new collection consisting of the following lines: All of Me, Boudoir, Great Expectations, Pure Bliss, Memoirs, State of Pleasure, and Mantaa. Each line contains about 10 pieces consisting of bras, knickers, basques, camisoles, and strings. Each line also comes in various colours making for a fairly large collection. Permita-SE is based in Brazil and I haven’t found these pieces outside of that country. The collection is well photographed. The pieces look well made. I wish I could easily get the pieces in the northern hemisphere. There is no English version of the corporate site nor links to online shops.

Objet du Désir: Brazilian Lingerie

September 18, 2008 by Rene

Objet du Désir lingerie is a romantic, sensual and exclusive line created by the French / Brazilian trio Philippine Bigorie, Melissa Monteiro and Deborah Ribeiro. All pieces are designed and handmade in Brazil, in limited quantities, using high quality materials. The end result is a comfortable line with exquisite pieces to be worn on special occasions or daily. The line’s pieces range in size from small to extra large hoping to bring more sensuality to women of all body types who appreciate great lingerie. New items are launched every month at the Ipanema showroom.

These pictures are from the Objet du Désir website. The look books are dated from 2006 and 2007. I can’t find a 2008 look book and I hope the company is doing well. The designs remind me of Mimi Holiday from Damaris. There are plenty of big bows on knickers and gathered fabrics with contrasting trim. There are also plenty of triangle bras which don’t usually work well with larger busts, so I’m not sure how well the company is doing with their goal of addressing a large range of sizes. The collection also includes intriguing one piece camisole/bodysuits with a built in suspender.
