The KanDi Swim by Dani Kates 2010 collection takes beach beauties back into an era of all things retro with swimwear inspired by the pie shops, fashions and graphics of the 1950’s.
While the 2010 collection is less literal compared to past collections, designer Dani Kates still stays true to her original inspiration of sweet desserts. From blueberry, cherry and mulberry pies to gingham prints every element of the KanDi Swim 2010 collection is inspired by the small details found in the designer’s favorite pies.
Polka dots and dizzying color combinations are revisited and given a modern twist with ruffles and stitched embroidery. Colors are derived from rich berry hues and contrasted with sharp whites, which create a fun and playful contradiction.
Silhouettes reminiscent of the fifties such as bandeau tops with wide straps and wide hipster bottoms can be mixed with sexy string bikinis in a variety of solids and prints to reflect the spunk and personality of the bikinis fun, flirty, and playful owner.
The official Kandi Swim site only has the ’08 and ’09 collections live – but soon I’m sure they’ll have more pics at www.kandiswim.com too!
