Spring

Pfiff Spring/Summer 2008

April 29, 2008 by Krista

I’ve already mentioned my love affair with the new Pfiff Age of Innocence eco-friendly group. I recently had the chance to visit the Pfiff showroom and see not only that group, but the rest of the Spring/Summer Collection (Autumn/Winter too, but more about that later!). As expected, the collection does not disappoint by matching exquisite design and detail with elegant (yet, supportive and comfortable) fabrics.

Pfiff Breadth of SerenityBreadth of Serenity is just that indeed! A clean, white double layered mesh is topped with a vibrant, royal purple scrolling embroidery, which immediately transported me to the Mediterranean in my mind! The group has something to offer everyone. The lightly lined balconette bra accomodates cups A-D, while the lightly padded full coverage bra fits C-F cups. Both feature the delicate, scalloped straps as well as the coordinating organza bow with a crystal tear drop charm.

Bottoms include a g-string hipster, bikini brief, and boyshort. All of which include the organza bow detailing in addition to their own unique elements including additional embroidery, pleating, and a key hole. In true Pfiff style, you’ll not only look fabulous from the front, but from the back as well! The group is complete with both a camisole and chemise. Mix and match to create new, opulent looks every night of the week.

Pfiff Dramatic EntrancesFor the ultimate in sophistication, Dramatic Entrances pairs a soft, tactel microfiber with Leavers lace and mesh. The palest green is accented with an inky black in a group reflecting the Art Deco style. Again, amazing detailing is featured throughout and sizes A-F are provided options through the fashionable demi padded push up bra and lightly lined full coverage bra.

The tanga features a unique, lined mesh cut out detail in the back as well as a double banded side while the wide-side thong features detachable garters! For more coverage, choose the hipster. Additional options include a lightly padded underwire bustier and a chemise with an adjustable tie back. This group is so fantastic and detailed, it could have been called Dramatic Exits as well!

Of course, the Pfiff year-round, continuous collections (including Lavish Bouquet and Moments of Seduction) are always available in stores.

To purchase the new collection, you’ll have to wait a few more weeks, but the continuous collections and Autumn/Winter 2007-2008 are currently available in department stores (including Macy’s West) and boutiques. Online, shop at Star Boudoir.

More to come on the Autumn/Winter collection!

Sariana Lingerie – Spice it up!

April 27, 2008 by Brenda

“Sariana – fashion with a special kind of fantasy. A zest for change, something new and unknown, which sharpens our senses and forms our taste.”Sariana Lingerie Barcelona Bustier

Reading that introduction line from the Sariana website, I immediately assumed that the line was provocative, maybe even erotic better left for fantasy playing than wearing as serious lingerie.

But I was pleasantly and amazingly surprised that Sariana is an exquisite luxury lingerie collection that made me delirious thinking about purchasing and owningSariana Lingerie Floral prints Sevilla these magnificent pieces. I was immediately drawn to the Granada bra, panty and camisole from the Spring/Summer 2008 Collection. Masterful laces in intricate designs in a full range of colours, the pieces are what I would call “elegant fantasy”Sariana Lingerie Alicante.

Lace on sumptuous chocolate brown makes up the Alicante line and the Bilboa offers the traditional white, black and bone bra, girdle and teddy. Sevilla is even more spring and summer fresh using green or red lace embellishments on pretty prints.

In addition it is newest collections, Sariana also has a diverse Basic line which is equally as pretty and elegant as the newer designs. Trying to instill confidence and natural beauty in all women, with lingerie that should feel like a second skin, Sariana offers a design for everyone.

Barbara of Paris Lingerie

April 20, 2008 by Brenda

Lingerie and fashion in general are dictated by many factors – celebrities, fads, trends, whimsy and even foolishness sometimes. What was hot yesterday may not be hot today so very few designers really make a lasting impression in the world of high-end apparel. But, one of the longest running lingerie companies can proudly boast that they are an exception to this fashion reality. Barbara of Paris, also known as Barbara, Barbara of France and Barbara Lingerie is a predominantly family run organization and has been creating beautifully feminine and intricate lingerie since 1926.

As one would surmise from their name and logos, the company is situated in Paris, France and was founded and managed by the Bena family until 2006. The company’s official website best describes their longevity and success story. They are a family and ultimately a corporate entity that took risks, adapted and innovated to the point where they became a world-renowned organization.

The family has since sold controlling interest to an equity firm in 2006 but the Barbara of Paris Fall 2008 Collection has already hit the runways this month in Las Vegas and New York at Lingerie Americas.

Many luxury lingerie companies focus on one or two products or lines making them the signature product. Barbara, on the other hand, has endeavoured to create all types of lingerie including sleepwear, swimwear, underwear, shaping garments, foundation garments and specialty items such as maternity and plus sizes. But they do not compromise quality and image in order to produce such variations in selection.

And, while the Bena family may now only own about thirty percent of Barbara, the new regime continues to focus on family values and the virtues of looking good with quality products. The 2008 advertising campaign emphasizes the bond between a mother and a daughter, which closely parallels the historic value of the Barbara of Paris line. The campaign’s underlying message is that family is important and Barbara has always been a successful family concern.

The Spring/Summer Collection, which is being sold in specialty boutiques now, is simply delightful with names such as Fleurs du sucre, Thé au jasmine and Macarons. The collection is best described by the company itself as “an appetising pic-nic” of “sweet sensations”. Think of perfumes, fruity colors such as pink raspberry, peach tea and apricot and creamy textures inspired by Japanese flower gardens.

As long as the company continues to innovate, please and maintain the quality control and comfort for which it is known, may it continue to lead as one of the world’s greatest lingerie success stories. More info on the Barbara website!

Marlies Dekkers’ Expansion

April 15, 2008 by Mandolina

Marlies Dekkers was not daunted upon her graduation in 1991 when everyone told her that being in the lingerie business was a waste of time since there was no money to be made. But she rebelled and she proved them wrong. In 1993, she received a grant from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, designed her famous “spider bra” and registered her company name “undressed”. And today with nine stores to her credit having just recently opened in The Hague, Berlin and New York City, she has never looked back.

The NYC store, while already open, will not hold its official launch until sometime this summer while the Berlin store opened recently with the launch of her Fall|Winter 3 Collection called Arabian Nights. The current collection was also shown, a beautifully energetic and colourful exotic design called Tropical Birds.

While the photography on her Spring|Summer Collection seems rather provocative and even bizarre, the pieces of lingerie are nonetheless elegant, chic and stunningly different. It is very easy to understand how Marlies has become so successful as no other designer matches her range of creativity. Intricate patterns, eye-catching colours, gorgeous designs and garments that look realistically comfortable are only a few of the many features of this beautiful collection of lingerie and swimwear.

The new “sundressed” 2008 collection, available for sale in her stores, is an awe-inspiring collection of sunny beach colours and fabrics mixed with mythological symbols. Just seeing this collection for the first time, it really makes you crave for the fun and sun of summer. Lazy days on some tropical island dressed in gorgeous tropical prints by one of the most outstanding designers in the business.

Rewarded time and time again for her notably superior workmanship, Marlies Dekkers truly understands what women crave to wear.
