Traveling with Lingerie

June 19, 2009 by Kelly

I will be leaving for a week-long vacation in a few days. There are lots of plans to make before a vacation, one of which (of course) is how to tote and care for your lingerie and swimwear while away from home. I know that I’m not the only one facing these predicaments, so here are some ideas for anyone else heading out for a holiday soon!

First, you’ll have to pack and store your lingerie somehow. You should seperate it from all your other clothes, so delicate lace isn’t torn by zippers and clean silk isn’t ruined by shoes. Krista has shown us the Bra(g) which is a great solution for anyone traveling with molded or padded bras. The Bra(g) is shaped like the cups of your bra, so it keeps them in shape and protects them from being squished, creased, wrinkled, or poked. You can protect other lingerie with a lingerie travel bag. Julianna Rae has a silk bag that is pretty enough to hold its own against your sexy little things. For someone (like me) who needs something a touch more practical with clearly labeled pockets (so I can see at a glance which section to reach into), Lapin Vilardi also has a wide selection of gorgeous bags – you have the option of seperating clean from dirty, or naughty from nice.

If you are traveling by plane, you may want to put some thought into the underthings you plan to wear to the airport. Control garments or shapewear may become uncomfortable if your body bloats at high altitudes. In my native US, the TSA recommends that you don’t wear a bra with an underwire as it may set off the metal detectors, and also asks that you do not wear gel bras. The TSA also warns against clothing with metal buttons, snaps or studs – so the metal bits on your garter belt or corset may cause a problem. That all being said, I have walked through the metal detectors with an underwire bra plenty of times and have only been stopped once. (Have any experience with this yourself? Join the discussion on our forums!)

While away, you can bring some cleanser with you if you plan to do laundry before you come home. You can get portioned lingerie detergent capsules from Soyelle, which are easy to pack and a cinch to use. Want to cut down on the amount of laundry you have during your trip? You can also try Flingz disposable thongs.

The Bra(g)

February 20, 2008 by Krista

Last year, I told you about the innovate Bra(g). A stylish bag designed in the shape of a bra to keep your bras in tact during travel. Since that time, the company (in response to customer requests) has expanded to include a bag for those of us whose cups are a bit fuller! The new buxom bra(g) fits bras through a G cup! In addition to the classic prints previously mentioned on TLP (such as Chocolate Delight, Denim Chic, and Classic Black), the bra(g) is now available in Tiffany Blue. And that’s not all. A panty bag is in the works as well!

Bra(g)

The bra(g) has also received a lot of attention lately in Hollywood. Golden Globe nominees received the new Spanx product Bra-llelujah inside the bra(g). Additionally, the bra(g) was featured on the Today show in January!

Find out more about these functional and fashionable bags on the bra(g) website. Order there or check them out yourself at stores worldwide. Tell us all about your experience with the bra(g) in our forums.

December 22, 2007 by Mandolina

Elizabeth Wells has just stocked some new Marlies Dekkers in their boutique and as always: it’s amazing! They also have the basque from the Maori collection (famous because of Nicole Scherzinger from the pussycat dolls wearing the underwire in the video ‘I Dont Need a Man‘). Marlies Dekkers Maori BasqueIf you’re still looking for sexy Christmas lingerie: check it out!

There’s a nice little extra too, by the way. You’ll get a free Marlies Dekkers lingerie travel bag with every set of Marlies underwear if you quote LPD after your name on the order form (while stocks last!!). Hurry! 😉

One last thing: Elizabeth Wells wants to remind people that they have up to Saturday 22nd 3pm to order in time for Christmas — for UK customers, that is!

Spoylt’s New “Greta” Collection (and Spoylt sale!)

December 16, 2007 by Kelly

One of my favorite things about Spoylt is that most of the collections have so many coordinated accessories. While most lingerie sets will coordinate bras and panties (and maybe a garter belt for good measure), Spoylt also throws in bags, slippers, robes, camis, negligees, and more. Their newest “Greta” collection is no disappointment! With ten matching items, you can indulge in this pretty print in a big way. There is even a capelet and a set of notecards featuring the collection!

What I really appreciate about the “Greta” style is that it is definitely sexy – but in more of a “pretty” way that makes it great to give as a gift if you’re unsure of her style. This set doesn’t knock you over with eroticism or ask her to become anything over-the-top. It’s just a simple, sexy token of your appreciation for her beauty. Even better, it is on sale right now! In fact, everything on the Spoylt site is 50% off. There are more details (and more sales) on our sale page.
