Winners of R.I. Elevator Competition Design Lingerie

December 8, 2008 by Kelly

Two Brown University students recently took top honors at the sixth annual R.I. Elevator Pitch competition with their idea of panties for menstruating women. The students were Eunice Png (an economics student) and Julie Sygiel (a chemical engineering student). They said,“All women compromise confidence and comfort during menstruation because existing feminine products are not sufficient” and took a survey which revealed that 60 percent of surveyed women experienced menstrual spills at least once a cycle.

The underwear the students designed is made from three-ply fabric with stain-releasing and leak-proof capabilities. It intends to allow women to wear cute panties during their period without having to worry about stains. It is not intended to completely replace conventional sanitary products.

The duo have named their new company Blink, and this first line of products is called sexy.period. They won a $300 prize in the competition, when the four judges agreed that it was an innovative solution to a common problem. Png and Sygiel had pitched their product before, but weren’t as successful with previous attempts. They plan to pursue their brand full-time after graduation.

I can’t help but notice and point out the similarities between this product and OnGossamer Luxury Liners. I wonder if they forgot to do their homework before coming up with this product?
