Yummie Tummie was displayed in an interesting way on Thursday for New York Fashion Week. Instead of traditional runway models, Yummie Tummie creator Heather Thompson turned to the city’s best pole dancers to display her Spring 2009 line of shapewear.
To choose the dancers, Thompson held pole dancing competitions at Manhattan’s swankiest gentlemen’s clubs. The dancers performed their routines on brass poles, and the top eight dancers won the modeling spots. On Thursday, the West End Cafe near Times Square had its lower level transformed into a strip club as four dancers at a time took to the poles and performed their routines in Yummie Tummie tank tops and camisoles.
The models had quite different body types, with varying skin colors and cup sizes (from AA on up!) Thompson said of this decision, “Every woman of every size deserves sexy lingerie that can be worn underneath her clothes or that’s meant to be seen.”
