Wickedelic Sweethearts Strip for UK Armed Forces

December 15, 2009 by Press Release

As Christmas approaches, and the nation’s thoughts go to the brave men and women of the Armed Forces, 13 gorgeous ‘real’ girls have stripped for a racy Help For Heroes calendar, in association with sexy underwear retailer, Wickedelic Lingerie. The ‘Wickedelic Sweethearts’ calendar features 13 girls who joined 10,000 other hopefuls in submitting photos for a competition to win the chance to become a ‘Forces Sweetheart’. The lucky 13 were chosen for their appearance and their caring attitudes towards the Armed Forces, with many either having an Armed Forces background or an Armed Forces spouse.

One such girl, Susie Hutson won the overall competition when she polled the most public votes after becoming a Forces Sweetheart in the East Midlands, where she met an Officer, who has now become her partner. As part of her win, Susie won the chance to appear on the calendar cover, and become the face of Wickedelic Lingerie. Susie said, “Britain has the bravest Armed Forces in the World, and I am so honoured to be a part of the Wickedelic Sweethearts calendar, raising money for the two most important charities in the UK right now – Help For Heroes and Combat Stress.”

Nicola Marie - Wickedelic Lingerie Natalie Rachel - Wickedelic Lingerie

Wickedelic Lingerie boss and ex-Royal Marine, David Hildrew said, “I understand the physical and emotional strain the brave men and women of our Armed Forces go through, and it’s a great source of personal pride for me that we are able to do our small bit, and raise funds for these two vital charities. All our 13 girls are stunning in their own ways, and Susie is a perfect cover girl, and a gorgeous girl to be the face of Wickedelic Lingerie.”

The Wickedelic Sweethearts 2010 calendar is available now at www.wickedeliclingerie.co.uk, and costs £7.99. All profits go to Help For Heroes and Combat Stress

Cash For your Clunker Bras!

December 6, 2009 by Mandolina

The Cash For Clunkers program might be over when it comes to cars in the US – but an Amsterdam-based lingerie boutique has decided to fight the recession with their very own Bra Scrap Scheme.Je M'Appelle Niki Inspired by the scrap scheme in the car industry, the boutique invites shoppers to turn in their old bra at Je m’Appelle Nikki and receive a discount of €7,50 when buying a new one.

Boutique Founder Nikki Crouwel says about the campaign: “This recession is not only harming the car industry, it is painful to the fashion and lingerie sector as well. But this witty campaign that refers to the car scrap scheme in a lighthearted way, has surprising earned attention and increased our sales. Most important, we can send the returned bra’s to a good cause.”

I actually think this is a GREAT idea – and hope to see more brick & mortar locations do similar things. This has to be a win-win situation, no?

Bras with Flair on the Square in Cincinnati, OH

October 3, 2009 by Kelly

I just attended a great bra-themed event! This past Tuesday, CincyChic held a fundraiser in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA for breast cancer awareness which included a bra fitting “lunch n’ learn,” evening reception, fashion show, vendor booths, and decorated bras which were auctioned off for charity. Here are some photos of the walls of bras (including the delicious A-DD cupcakes given out by a vendor):

In the weeks before this event, CincyChic collected decorated bras from local businesses and individuals. These bras were then displayed on Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati at various times throughout the day from 7AM to 7PM. Anyone passing through the square was able to vote for their favorite decorated bra, and the 10 favorite bras were auctioned off that evening at the afterparty to benefit Susan G Komen for the Cure.

I wasn’t able to attend the evening reception but I did enjoy the lunch n’ learn where Britt Cruikshank from La Silhouette Lingerie discussed the importance of a well-fitting bra, helped attendees discover their own bra sizes, and answered bra-fitting questions from the audience. Here are some of the great tips she emphasized during the event:

  • Before getting any plastic surgery done to your breasts, make sure you’re wearing the correct size bra to begin with. This will make large breasts more comfortable and provide the best shaping for any size. You may discover you don’t need surgery after all.
  • If your bra is uncomfortable or doesn’t fit you correctly, there is nothing wrong with you. There is something wrong with your bra – whether it’s the size, shape, or style. There is a bra out there for everyone.
  • If you need more support, don’t automatically buy wider straps to cinch up. Most of the support should come from the band, so make sure that is the correct size to properly support you.
  • Go through your lingerie drawer at least once a year to get rid of anything old, worn out, or stretched out. This is also a good time to get re-sized.
  • Get rid of all the sweats you wear to bed – be sure to wear something pretty and feminine! Even if you live with someone you don’t want to be super sexy in front of, there is modest and feminine loungewear that will make you feel your best.
  • “The perfect bra is like the perfect man: sensitive, supportive, and will never let you down.”

Philanthropic Debut of Lingerie Miami Hosted by Eva Longoria

February 10, 2009 by Rene

On February 7th, Eva Longoria Parker, Padma Lakshmi, and Deepak Chopra joined forces to present and speak at Lingerie Miami. The show was held at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and celebrated femininity and . The event was to benefit Brazil, Colombia, India, Jamaica, Mexico, and the USA. Marquis sponsors (Belvedere Vodka, Dom Perignon, MAC) joined top designers (Agent Provocateur, Carine Gilson, and Fifi Chachnil). Being a joint show for a celebrity cause, I doubt many new designs were unveiled at the show, but these three designers have deep trunks and I’m sure could put on quite a show. Check out more photos from the event at Getty Images. See more pictures of Mrs. Tony Parker at the Gossip Girls site.

Apparently, the event was a little chilly and Eva Longoria (usually seen in Spoylt on Desperate Housewives) had her own space heater brought in. The event was a sell out (starting at $500/seat) and properly launched a new philanthropic brand according to the founder Renata Mutis Black.
