Ophelia Fancy Lingerie Spring/Summer 2009, “No Vacancies”

February 5, 2009 by Mandolina

No Vacancies - Ophelia Fancy LingerieEssex girls Stevi and Em founded Ophelia Fancy back in 2005 and have been terrorizing the shores of sunny Brighton with their quirky double-act ever since. During this period they have successfully decked out the most extraordinary client list ranging from Fern Britton to The Horrors, with their bespoke and inspired revivalist collections.

Undoubtedly 2009 will witness this cult lingerie brand push their creative boundaries to the limit, with the launch of their Spring/Summer collections exclusively manufactured in the UK with the most beautiful materials they could lay their little hands on.

The Lingerie Post has been covering Ophelia Fancy since we’ve launched and we’ve loved every single one of their collections. Why? Because Ophelia Fancy is always innovative, always provocative and always made with the highest quality standards in mind. Yes, it’s a little pricey; but yes, it’s worth it.

Ophelia Fancy has recently won an ‘Individual Designer Award’ at the Swatch Alternative Fashion Week. An insight and passion for a presently blossoming burlesque scene provided them with the perfect catalyst needed to stimulate their winning designs.

Want to get in the mood for their SS09? Here’s OF’s Spring/Summer 09 ‘Muse’;

The year is 1976 and Ophelia Fancy is heading on her summer holiday after a well earned break from her busiest season to date. Following her foreign ski holiday last winter she decides to stay close to home. Taking a trip along the South coast looking for her perfect restful retreat, amongst the sun baked copper fields and golden sands she stumbles across the Buckle caravan camp. Dressed in her latest summer creations of cute polka dot tulles and tomato ginghams, she rocks up to the club house excited at the prospect of her very own camper with a picket fence and manicured lawn. Bill walks out with a cheeky smile and leads her to the holiday homes of her dreams, she drops her case and out spills a vast array of sparkles, ruffles and flowers in the form of the most beautiful lingerie Seaford has ever seen. Bill blushes and she breathes a sigh of relief, she made it just in time, he turns the sign on the door…

Ophelia Fancy’s Ello Tiger Limited Edition

July 9, 2008 by Mandolina

A limited leopard print edition just went live on the Ophelia Fancy site, good enough a reason for us to be able to mention the lovely Brighton-based label by Stevi Jelbart and Emma Sandham-King again.

From the Ophelia Fancy site:

“This Ltd edition Ello Tiger set is fashioned from shazzy but beautifully soft leopard print polyester and trimmed to perfection with our signature ballet-bum yellow tulle. They have bright purple bows and are finished with two genuine large purple Swarovski crystals.”

The bright nipple tassels are super-fun and this very limited set (knickers & nipple tassels) is available on the Ophelia Fancy site for £42 (+/- $85).

Fabulicious – New Online Lingerie Boutique

July 3, 2008 by Mandolina

Fabulicious is a brand new online lingerie boutique (check it out at fabulicious.fr), and we decided to ask shop owner Jeannette Smith a couple questions… 😉

Q: Why did you decide to start your own lingerie boutique on the net?
A: I have been passionate about lingerie since I can remember, but probably at the tender age of 15 I seriously started to care! I was never a big fan of lingerie shops although the shops as such can be gorgeous but for me, no cold boutique changing cabins… pitiless mirrors, shop assistants that tend to open the curtain while you are still standing there half naked trying to pull things over your hips…(I am sure there are some lovely sales ladies out there I just have never met one yet…) really traumatised me, trying on the delicious new garments with a glass of Champagne (or tea) & Candle light at home just made me become a passionate internet shopper!

My best friend being from London – and a big lingerie fan herself – helped me discover some very beautiful frilly lingerie delights from Uk designers and I just wanted to put together a selection of Must-Have items that I would love for myself and for my friends! So I thought why not taking it to the next level and open my own site with my favourite “lingerie artists”. I am a fulltime-working Mum (in the music business) and have been doing this on the side, but hopefully soon I can concentrate fully on all those glamorous Lingerie delights!

Q: What brands do you carry and which are your favorites?
A: I have selected my brands over a period of time and “hand picked” the items I sell! I discovered some amazing designers at the Paris Lingerie salon 2008 (at the Spicy Garden) and through blogs like The Lingerie Post.

I wanted suppliers that were not easy or obvious to find in France and it was a question of falling in love with the lingerie pieces.

The brands I carry are: Ophelia Fancy (my little favourite, designed by the lovely Stevi Jelbart and Emma Sandham-King), Miss La La, Ell & Cee, Carmen Gonzales (coming soon), some fun pieces from Carol Malony, I could not find Mimi Holliday on French sites and though it was so very gorgeous, I also supply Playful Promises and Odille which I thought have very beautiful pieces for a reasonable price, coming soon is Maya Hansen (amazing corsetry) and I just discovered the fabulous Vintage Opulence that I will show on my site very soon.

Q: Where do you hope to be a year from now, business-wise?
A: I hope in a years time things will have taken off and I can still be there and do what I love: run my fabulicious, delicious, utterly sexy online lingerie boutique!!

We wish her the best of luck, and will keep all of you updated with Fabulicious news!
