UK brand Marks & Spencer has a lot to brag about! Models Erin O’Connor and Lizzy Jagger recently helped unveil the Autumn 2007 lines with burlesque-inspired styles. The pictured softly-boned corset from the Autumn line will go on sale in November. Other themes in the collection include looks inspired by old Hollywood glamour and tailored suits. The head of M&S lingerie design, Soozie Jenkinson, was quoted as saying:
Corsetry is quite fashionable at the moment and these really curvaceous looks are quite market driven as well as being functional…The whole burlesque thing is driving some quite erotic, sexy lingerie looks on the high street at the moment.
Following laser-cut lingerie trends of the past year or so, M&S is also coming out with “No VPL†knickers in boyshort and Brazilian styles following a successful trial. In the same vein, underwear created with heat bonding instead of stiching will come out in autumn as part of the “body miracle†range and a “light as air†bra is in development. It aims to be the most lightweight bra available on the high street.
Marks & Spencer are now also in the midst of developing “eco-factories,†which will be quite “green†as they will be carbon neutral, use renewable energy, send no waste to the landfill, have the ability to harvest rainwater, use sun to light production areas, and use vegetation and compressed rice straw boards for building materials. The third eco-factory to be built will be based in Sri Lanka, which will be run by MAS Intimates and will make M&S lingerie.
