Looks for Less: Animal Prints

April 30, 2009 by Kelly

We had a great response to our previous Looks for Less articles (find them here, here, and here), so now this will be a recurring series here on TLP. We want you to be able to wear the sexy styles you love, even if you don’t have the budget for the big-ticket items! The theme this time is animal prints. As always, there are links below the images to the website where you can buy each piece – whether you choose to splurge or save.

Intimates Over the Years: Animal Prints

July 19, 2008 by Gayvin

What was the original appeal of animal prints on intimate garments?

In the mid-1950s, Sheena Queen of the Jungle, played sheena queen of the jungle by Irish McCalla, created a hit out of the 26 t.v. episodes that were produced. Inspired by the Tarzan films, the series was so popular that even Elvis Presley made one of his first acting appearances on the show.

Irish ran, swam, and saunted through the jungle in her torn animal prints on 1950s t.v. when June Cleaver types were the normat home. As the decade progressed, the foundation for civil and familial unrest took root. Sheena and her jungle attire were precursers of things to come in society and a wonderful escape from the rigid roles women played at that time.

Sheena Queen of the Jungle has made its way to main stream fashion today. For the last couple decades, jungle prints have torn up the run ways, beaches, and back yard bar-b-ques, going in and out of fashion. Now-a-days, the print has become so popular that even my 54-year-old mother-in-law wears the wildest animal print she can find to go pool-side.

What are some of the lastest animal print swim suits that can be bought for summer?

Intimates Over The Years Animal Prints

The Le Doux suit (image above left) can be bought at figleaves.com for $65 (on sale now). The Dolce & Gabbana cross over one piece is $158 (above middle). While the Leopard Print Bikini by Michael Kors is £124 (above right).

In any case, these animal print swimsuits can bring out your sexy seductress side that likes to live on the edge!

Aline Nakashima in Dolce & Gabbana Lingerie

March 4, 2008 by Bert

It’s been a while since we had a simple photo set on TLP. I’m here to save the day with a lovely photo series of the Brazilian Aline Nakashima in Dolce & Gabbana lingerie. Pics were taken for Bare Necessities, an excellent online retailer that might not be getting the amount of TLP-love it deserves. 🙂

Dolce & Gabbana’s new collections!

January 24, 2008 by Mandolina

D&G’s new Dita, Jacquard and Satin collections are truely pretty — and they’ve just landed on the Nancy Meyer site! A quick run through them:

1. The Dita collection, with delicate rouching, pleating and their signature leopard print trim creating a subtle sensuality just like you can expect from D&G.

2. The Jacquard collection with the stunning Jacquard Balconnet Bra that’s one of my favorites this far in 2008!

3. The Satin collection — not surprisingly in fine satin, combined with metallic colors — a pretty combo

Prices are on the higher end of the spectrum — but that’s to be expected… Rest assured though: you’re getting value for money over at Nancy Meyer!
