The Many Faces of Felina

April 25, 2009 by Rene

I guess I’ve finally put the pieces together. Apparently, the name “Felina” is very popular for lingerie makers. In the USA, Felina is a long standing brand that acquired Jezebel in the last decade to increase their reach even further. For many English speakers, this is the brand associated with the name. Even our broad international focus at TLP has given the brand name Felina over to the US company. During the Polish series, I stumbled on a different Felina. This Felina wasn’t strictly a Polish company, so I didn’t write up an article and filed it away in my to-do folder. There is another Felina it is based in Germany, but they have many other global web sites including: Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Europe, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland. In all of these locations, they are known as Felina (with some top level domain for the country). In Slovakia, they can be found www.conturelle.sk, in the UK they can be found at www.conturelle.co.uk, and in the USA, their web site is at www.conturelle-dessous.com. Apparently, they ran into international branding problems and also use variations of Conturelle for corporate branding.. In 2008, Krista brought you a profile of Conturelle.

The company hass been in the lingerie, corsetry, and swimwear business for 120 years. The brand still specializes in fit featuring bands in 32-42 and cups in A-H for the modern woman. Sadly, I don’t see a lot of new pieces since the 2008 TLP.

In the US, another name is added into the mix as the west coast is handled by distributor Patricia Marquis. Rigby and Peller have started carrying the brand. The Provence is £66.95 for the bra and £30 for the knickers. They carry a few more pieces. A very capable boutique in Derbyshire also shares the name of a large US retailer. Bare Necessities (UK) carries this brand and other brands for larger cup and larger women. They have some pieces on very deep discount (up to 75% off) including the Provence in pink and black.

I hope to see more of this refined brand.

Additional Stores to Purchase Conturelle

March 19, 2008 by Krista

Conturelle Maroc CollectionLast week, I told you about a great new brand for larger cup sizes, Conturelle. I have since found some additional stores where Conturelle can be purchased. The Full Cup is a lingerie shop based in both Alexandria, VA and Virginia Beach, VA as well as Women’s Fantasy in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, neither have an online shop, but those of you in the area should check it out. I’ll continue to keep you updated as new locations appear for all of your favorite brands!

Conturelle: Elegance for All Sizes!

March 11, 2008 by Krista

At the Lingerie Americas show, I was introduced to the German line, Conturelle. Conturelle is unique in that A-H cups are accommodated by their sophisticated and seductive line. Specializing in meeting fit with fashion, Conturelle utilizes quality materials to ensure that every woman can achieve that exquisite and elegant shape she desires.

Conturelle features two sets of ranges – the never out of stock basics and the fashion collections. Some of my favorites include the Provence, Arabesque, Maroc, and Reflexion ranges.

Provence features femininity at its finest. This range, made of elastic tulle, is noted for its delicate embroidery on the bras as well as on the straps. Well-constructed, as well as beautiful, the bras create a beautiful silhouette in white, black, vanilla, or magnolia mauve. Complete the look with a thong, mini briefs, or bikini briefs.

Arabesque provides a sophisticated and classy look and is marked by its exquisite embroidery. I particularly love the look of the molded bra which is adorned with guipure embroidery on the center of the bra as well as the straps! Divine! The colors for this range include black, white, vanilla, and the incredibly rich, indigo. A matching thong, mini brief, or bikini brief is also available.

Maroc is unique in its own right. Made of sheer, elastic tulle, this range stands out for its classic diamond pattern. In black, white, vanilla, and apricot, the cleavage and underwired bras are edged in lovely eyelet embroidery. A flawless look is complete with a matching thong, mini brief, or maxi brief.

Reflexion is extraordinary! Indulge in lavish satin accented by graphic embroidery on the cups as well as the straps. Feel confident in opulent vanilla, black, Havana (a metallic shade), and amethyst. Finish the look with your choice of the thong, mini briefs, bikini, briefs, or control briefs.

So what can you buy and where can you buy it? Currently, the Harmonie, Provence, Arabesque, Perfection, and Maroc ranges are available in stores. Reflexion, along with the fashion ranges, will be available this fall. Those of you in Europe will probably have an easier time finding Conturelle in shops near you. For those of you in the U.S., I’ll keep you posted as I find stockists. However, online, try Bits of Lace or Sylene. Keep us posted in our forums if you find this great brand at a store near you!
