Dreamy Maidenform Ads
You may have seen the long-running advertising campaign Maidenform produced in the 40s, 50s, and 60s where a woman dreams she did something in her Maidenform bra. From the mundane (“I dreamed I went shopping in my Maidenform bra”) to the exciting (“I dreamed I starred on television in my Maidenform bra”) to the improbable (“I dreamed I rode a magic carpet in my Maidenform bra”) and the downright silly (“I dreamed I was a cigar store Indian in my Maidenform bra”), these ads portrayed women feeling confident and looking great in their lingerie. I’ve seen these ads decorating the fitting rooms and walls of lingerie boutiques, and they could be an inexpensive way to add some cheer and vintage charm to your powder room or boudoir. Here are some of my favorites:
Of course, the first thing to do would be to look through any old magazines you, your mother, or your grandmother have. If you can’t find any ads there, these prints and original ads can be easily found online. A quick Internet search will help you find several sellers, and eBay has many of these ads for as little as $4 (at time of writing).
Victoria Beckham for Armani Underwear
Back in October, Kelly notified us of the pending partnership between Victoria Beckham and Armani. Now — the first results have arrived!
Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is rumoured to have gotten over 15 million dollars for a 3-year deal with Armani Underwear.
Are these photos worth the money? I’ll leave that up to you to decide — but I think the 34-year old mother looks absolutely gorgeous.
Rosy Lingerie Update
Back in the summer, Rosy debuted in the U.S. You saw photos from the launch on TLP. As promised, here are some of the great promotional photos from this fantastic French brand. Absolutely beautiful!
Diablotine is a sassy, yet elegant range featuring retro-striped satin. The complete look contains a padded bra (with ribbon and lace detailing), mathcing thong, and corresponding (and very sexy) waistcincher accented with lacing.
Sensuelle is a delightfully sexy set composed of tempting tulle and exquisite embroidery. Available in a wired bra and coordinating brief.
Enjoleuse is sweet and sophisticated. Made of soft microfibre, the range features a contrasting organza trim. Choose between a wired bra and molded bra and between high leg knickers and flirty thong.
Sentimentale is an opulent lace and taffeta combination. Both the molded bra and wired bra feature an organza knot in the center. Match with a brief or thong. And don’t forget the waistcincher to complete the look!
For more on Rosy, see the website. Rosy is available at stores worldwide. For you lucky NYC ladies, Rosy has recently arrived at Journelle. Enjoy!
Vintage Vixens – Tra-La-La Lingerie
Are you a vintage vixen? Then you are in luck! A number of brands are going the retro route with inspiration from the 40’s and 50’s. A new brand, Tra-La-La Lingerie, joins the ranks of those doing vintage. And, believe me, they are doing it very well! Tra-La-La has taken the flirty, playful, and fun elements of that era and the technology and fabrication of this era and translated it into gorgeous pieces you’ll want to wear again and again.
Each collection has a theme (such as Bat Your Eyelashes, Fly Me to the Moon, and Ride ‘Em Cowboy!) and features a number of pieces from babydolls, camis, and rompers to high waist panties, hipsters, and tap pants. Colorways for Spring begin with rich jewel tones and move to flirty pastels, classic black, and colorful coral. The fabrics include stretch woven satin, elegant eyelash lace, and Egyptian cotton to name a few. And, the details – to die for! Perfectly placed pockets, beautiful bows, and riveting ruching and ruffles!
If that wasn’t enough, Tra-La-La also has the cutest, cheekiest novelty panties! I can’t wait to own a few pairs myself! With sayings such as “Catchy Number,” “Peek-a-View,” “Are my cheeks red?” and “Sitting Pretty,” these are guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser!
Tra-La-La Lingerie will be available in stores early next year. See the photos below for a glimpse of some of the sassy styles of the collections. And, of course, we’ll keep you posted on the latest developments with this new and exciting brand!
