NAKI NYC takes Marilyn and Audrey to the beach!

August 25, 2011 by Brigitte

Marylin Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, two pop culture icons whose style is still reflected in fashion today. NAKI NYC takes their fashionable faces to the beach with their new swimwear line. Time to make a statement in the water, wearing the striking yet feminine new bathing suit and bikini line.

“I think swimwear should be fun, it’s one of the rare places in everyday fashion where women can be a little kitschy, a little out there, and totally sexy,” says Kerri Quigley the line’s designer. And I can totally see where she got it. The front is decorated with the ladies pretty faces, while on the back you can read quotes from each icon. Wearing a bikini that has “I am good but not an angel” on your bottom is indeed cute but with a wink, now isn’t it?

I personally am a big fan of the Audrey Hepburn swimsuit one. Love the great cleavage because of the low neckline; you can see that it’s a swimsuit that doesn’t have to press everything together in order to fit it all in… All NAKI NYC swimwear is actually double lined in the front for support and shape, always a plus on the beach. Straps close around the neck, taking care of awkward tan lines on your back. Sexy, practical and fun, all in one indeed.

Next to this personal favorite you can opt for the Marilyn swimsuit, which is a one piece strapless version with cut-outs on the sides. Or you can choose between the bikini’s, one classic, and one with high-waisted brief and a bandeau top.

An original take on bra straps: the clipper by Micolan!

August 22, 2011 by Brigitte

You go to the store, and there it is, the perfect cute tank top you were looking for. Or, you have to go to a party and finally found a dress that’s perfect, but it actually is a bit too open at the back, showing more of your bra-straps than it should…

the clipperSurely there are options to cover this problem. There are strapless bras, but they need some kind of good lifting system in the bra cups in order to fully replace a normal bra. And next to that, many women just aren’t comfortable in strapless bras out of fear of slipping. Another option is to use pretty exchangeable straps in combination with a multiway bra. And believe you me, there are lots of couture straps out there. Anything goes, from chained metallic ones to lace, without having to take comfort in plastic ones – everybody can see them anyway, might as well go for a pretty solution.

But sometimes this doesn’t quite cut it, or you just might need a casual but pretty looking option. And that’s when we got a message from Micolan. Micolan is an eastern company specialized in producing silicone materials. They’ve come up with the strap clipper.

This easy tool enables you to wear your favorite bra without having to worry about the straps: just clip on your little helper and wear your outfit proud.

I must admit that for these pictures I would have chosen a crème colored bra, but then again, the idea is clear and the possibilities endless. I like! For more great strap-stuff make sure to check out The Strapper and StrapCouture!

Truly unique lingerie by Eternal Spirits

August 20, 2011 by Brigitte

For fall and winter, UK-based Eternal Spirits comes up with 2 new collections: Gypsy Carousel and Cameo Collection. And when I say UK-based, I mean it: both sourcing and production remains as British as can be. All products are made by a very skilled in-house team. Corsets are handcrafted to traditional Victorian techniques using steel boning, in order to get that perfect hour glass silhouette. Susi Henson established Eternal Spirits in 2002 and is still at the head of her company. She wanted to put a bit of magic into every woman’s life through her lingerie. Fans include Dita Von Teese (and she knóws her lingerie!), Leona Lewis and Britney Spears.

Craftsmanship is absolutely showing in their fall and winter lines. This is not an ordinary corset, not a simple waist pie… This is art.

The Gypsy Carousel line is inspired by a magical antique carousel horse called Star. It’s a playful collection build around vibrant colors like canary yellow, fuchsia, emerald green, peacock blue, violet, teal and gold. Corsetry is as always steel boned and handmade. Lingerie and loungewear are made out of the finest and most luxurious silks, duchess satins and lace.

The Cameo Collection is decadent but sophisticated, and takes exclusivity in lingerie a step higher. Only 200 pieces of each style will be made in this collection, and each item comes numbered. Special fabrics such as ostrich leather and heavily embroidered leatherette are combined with silk satin and chiffon knickers, digitally printed with the unique hand illustrated cameo design.

Up until now I haven’t gone into temptation to buy yet… but I’m afraid I’m falling now… and I’m only with The Lingerie Post 3 days…

New Vera Wang Lingerie. Ready for fall yet?

August 19, 2011 by Brigitte

Although summer’s still here, fall collection introductions start falling in our mailbox every now and then already. Vera Wangs diffusion line Simply Vera is the first to be introduced on your favorite lingerie blog. With Simply Vera, the designer tries to combine style, comfort, and affordability – a combination that is hard to find, especially that last bit. Vera Wang designs Simply Vera exclusively for Kohl’s as a designer private label, which means high quality at a nice price. Her nonchalant approach to style and luxury is reflected in the pieces she designs for her store brand, as it is in her official line.

Simplicity is the keyword for the intimate fall collection. Soft fabrics, neat designs, comfortable sleepwear, it’s all there. The feminine touch is never forgotten: fine linings, lace or satin details and perfect and flirty draping. These all contribute to the female form the designer wants to emphasize. Furthermore you can dream away while it’s raining outside in boyish oversized brushed twill shirts or pants and tops. The colors are friendly and soft.

The Simply Vera lingerie collection is available now at Kohl’s department store, and online at www.kohls.com. You’d almost think you’ve had enough of summer, wouldn’t you?

With Love Lingerie: Classic English Literature as an inspiration for Lingerie!

August 18, 2011 by Brigitte

With Love Lingerie is a rather new lingerie label, based in Canada. Founder/Designer Carrie Russell worked with several other successful lingerie designer companies and felt it was time to follow her own ideas. With Love Lingerie provides a nice equilibrium between romantic prints and designs in the Bloom line as opposed to the more seductive Femme line, characterized by black and white lace and corsets. The film noir aspect in her designs is overly present – the only thing missing in the picture on the right is a cigarette in a holder. After promoting the sweet line, they thought the time was right to emphasize their more seductive luxury side.

The Mme. Beatrice Deco collection celebrates feminine curves using classic lines and luxurious fabrics like rich satin and textured materials.

Founder/Designer Carrie Russell blames her imagination and literary background as the main inspiration for the line. And yes, you can immediately link the images to the strong dynamic female characters you know out of classic English Literature. They could have escaped right out of a Jane Austen novel. Well, if there were any sassy parts, that is. 😉

With Love Lingerie With Love Lingerie

The collection holds several nice cinchers and ribbon corsets, playful slips and babydolls. The Mme. Beatrice Deco collection can be divided into two parts, the first part being the collection in subtle colors like cream and nude, using clean lines and smooth details, and the second part playing with a rich mysterious factor in black using embroidered details and luxury textures.
