Ever since we posted about Bordelle’s spring/summer 2010 collection on TLP, I’ve been obsessed with finding out more about the edgy Brit brand and how I can get my hands on its lingerie in the U.S. It turns out that Bordelle is about to make a huge splash in the American market.
For one, upscale emporium Coco de Mer took on the line to be distributed from all of its stores, including the one in New York that opened last month. There you can snatch the Angela cage dress ($565), the webbed thong ($150) and the Meryl harness ($170). And beginning in May, two looks from the spring/summer collection will be sold at Victoria’s Secret stores as part of the retailer’s Designer Collections. Here are the two looks that VS chose:
Bordelle can already be found at London’s elite department stores including Selfridges and Liberty, but admits that the U.S. counterparts proved more difficult to conquer. “Wary of the unclassifiable nature of bodywear items and their ability to gain commercial momentum, American retailers opted out for the first season, paving the way for those with an online presence to cash in on the underwear as outerwear concept. But when the likes of nancymeyer.com sold out and client requests started to pour in, the others decided it was time to follow suit and ride the trend wave,” says a Bordelle press release.
The brand has already graced the covers of the major fashion mags including Vogue and Elle and is a favorite of Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
