The Cash For Clunkers program might be over when it comes to cars in the US – but an Amsterdam-based lingerie boutique has decided to fight the recession with their very own Bra Scrap Scheme. Inspired by the scrap scheme in the car industry, the boutique invites shoppers to turn in their old bra at Je m’Appelle Nikki and receive a discount of €7,50 when buying a new one.
Boutique Founder Nikki Crouwel says about the campaign: “This recession is not only harming the car industry, it is painful to the fashion and lingerie sector as well. But this witty campaign that refers to the car scrap scheme in a lighthearted way, has surprising earned attention and increased our sales. Most important, we can send the returned bra’s to a good cause.”
I actually think this is a GREAT idea – and hope to see more brick & mortar locations do similar things. This has to be a win-win situation, no?
