French Cancan is a love story dating from the 1990s. Penet Pascale from Roubaix and Jean-Marie Monnier from Strasbourg met at trade show. for textiles. They joined forces in business and in life forming the TAND’M fashion house in 1991. They originally made socks and collaborated with Kindy, Olympia, and Pascale.
By 2005, they decided to design their own brand of footwear. Later, they decide to work on leggings with Calais lace based upon their ideas of Moulin Rouge. From leggings to sleeves and anklets, these pieces are full of satin ribbon and adorn the extremities. In 2008, Pascale and Jean-Marie add traditional lingerie to their line up.
The corporate site is in French. A few pieces are English, but it is consistent. The site looks like Flash, but it is a fascinating use of JavaScript and images. There is a corporate boutique where all of the pieces are for sale. Prices range from €30-€100. These images are from the current offerings in the boutique and there are many, many more.
With the leggings, sleeves, and anklets, French Cancan offers more complete sets than nearly everyone except Modern Courtesan and Trashy. Stop by the new store and enjoy this dose of Parisian, retro fun.
