The Many Faces of Felina

April 25, 2009 by Rene

I guess I’ve finally put the pieces together. Apparently, the name “Felina” is very popular for lingerie makers. In the USA, Felina is a long standing brand that acquired Jezebel in the last decade to increase their reach even further. For many English speakers, this is the brand associated with the name. Even our broad international focus at TLP has given the brand name Felina over to the US company. During the Polish series, I stumbled on a different Felina. This Felina wasn’t strictly a Polish company, so I didn’t write up an article and filed it away in my to-do folder. There is another Felina it is based in Germany, but they have many other global web sites including: Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Europe, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland. In all of these locations, they are known as Felina (with some top level domain for the country). In Slovakia, they can be found www.conturelle.sk, in the UK they can be found at www.conturelle.co.uk, and in the USA, their web site is at www.conturelle-dessous.com. Apparently, they ran into international branding problems and also use variations of Conturelle for corporate branding.. In 2008, Krista brought you a profile of Conturelle.

The company hass been in the lingerie, corsetry, and swimwear business for 120 years. The brand still specializes in fit featuring bands in 32-42 and cups in A-H for the modern woman. Sadly, I don’t see a lot of new pieces since the 2008 TLP.

In the US, another name is added into the mix as the west coast is handled by distributor Patricia Marquis. Rigby and Peller have started carrying the brand. The Provence is £66.95 for the bra and £30 for the knickers. They carry a few more pieces. A very capable boutique in Derbyshire also shares the name of a large US retailer. Bare Necessities (UK) carries this brand and other brands for larger cup and larger women. They have some pieces on very deep discount (up to 75% off) including the Provence in pink and black.

I hope to see more of this refined brand.
