You may have seen the long-running advertising campaign Maidenform produced in the 40s, 50s, and 60s where a woman dreams she did something in her Maidenform bra. From the mundane (“I dreamed I went shopping in my Maidenform bra”) to the exciting (“I dreamed I starred on television in my Maidenform bra”) to the improbable (“I dreamed I rode a magic carpet in my Maidenform bra”) and the downright silly (“I dreamed I was a cigar store Indian in my Maidenform bra”), these ads portrayed women feeling confident and looking great in their lingerie. I’ve seen these ads decorating the fitting rooms and walls of lingerie boutiques, and they could be an inexpensive way to add some cheer and vintage charm to your powder room or boudoir. Here are some of my favorites:
Of course, the first thing to do would be to look through any old magazines you, your mother, or your grandmother have. If you can’t find any ads there, these prints and original ads can be easily found online. A quick Internet search will help you find several sellers, and eBay has many of these ads for as little as $4 (at time of writing).
Hi,
Great idea! And I happen to sell these ads, so if anyone is interested, please contact me via email, and I’ll see what I can find for you. These ads and others are great for decorating.
thanks, Kelly,
