Provocative is a French design company, they focus on very sexy lines, with an emphasis on quality of materials, packaging and standard of manufacturing. Alterego is a large wholesaler in the UK, and that basically means we’ll be seeing a lot of this label in the next couple years all over the UK web shops.

Diane Rothwell, Alterego’s MD said “we launched the brand just before Christmas, and it has done really great business just from our website, so we think that once we begin to market it properly we will be able to create a good demand for the fourteen lines in the range”. “The quality of the products is fantastic” Diane says, “retailers will be genuinely amazed at the prices considering the superb quality. We strive to find products that our retailers can make good margins on, and will lead to repeat business, and ‘Provocative’ will fit that bill superbly. No minimum orders, free postage, point of sale materials, and 24 hour dispatch all adds to make this range even more attractive.”

I have yet to see the label in person, and I’ve read a lot of these “quality sexy-wear” promises before. 90% of the time, these kind of labels disappoint. Can anyone out there confirm the quality of Provocative lingerie?

I’ve never quite understood the difference between Triumph and Valisere, but it is possible that Triumph used to be everyday lingerie and Valisere was for special occasions. A few years ago, Valisere started their own project called Tabu. The Valisere Tabu line is similar to the Naughty Janet line for Janet Reger. Tabu isn’t quite as risque, but they do create lingerie for those special evenings.

Sharen Turney said on February 28 in a call with industry analysts, “We’ve so much gotten off our heritage … too sexy, and we use the word sexy a lot and really have forgotten the ultra feminine.”Victoria’s Secret was started with the idea that “Victoria” was manor-born and lived in London, so “I feel so strongly about us getting back to our heritage and really thinking Victoria's Secretin terms of ultra feminine and not just the word ‘sexy,’ and becoming much more relevant to our customer,” Turney said.

So what about the Pink! line? The bright, young prints and colors aren’t exactly reminiscent of someone living on a London manor. Turney said that the brand wants to start turning back towards a level of sophistication, by “reinventing the sleepwear business” and focusing on product quality. “Our assortment will return to an ultra feminine lingerie brand to meet her needs and expectation.”

I discovered them on the Thongs and more Online website, and I’m actually quite intrigued by some of the pieces. They’re not cheap, but not really expensive either. I’m not sure where they’re at in the quality spectrum — but they look quite alright.

My favorites are the quarter cup bras and the exciting corsets. I don’t want to shock any of our regulars, so I only added two pics of the 1/4 cup bras, but there are quite a few more on the TAMO-site (check the bottom of the page!). It does look a little strange though: girly push-ups and ultra-sexy 1/4 cups and open crotch thongs from one and the same brand — but who cares, as long as they’re pretty! :)

Has anyone tried Axami? Any feedback? Let me know on the forums!
