Gaia was a bright star of the Polish lingerie scene. They’ve been in business since 1998. I’m not sure what has happened recently, but Gaia has been web-silent for 16-18 months. The collections haven’t been updated since 2007. The corporate site is mainly in Polish with a few contact pages in English and German. There is no official company store, but Gaia is still prominently featured at Kontri in Poland.

Poland has a long history of textile manufacturing and since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Poland has been embracing market economies. Freed from quotas and mandated manufacturing, many Polish textile companies are stepping on to the world stage.

Gorteks seems to be operating under the very French name of “Belle Femme”. The company web site is only available in Polish. Shopping options are available at the website: http://www.gorteks.com.pl/sklepy.php. You can buy online at Intymna and Kontri if you feel comfortable with Polish ecommerce. This is a company with a refined vision of their offerings. The collection feels more western European than some of the companies we have profiled and tends to offer pretty basics with an extended range of lingerie pieces including basques and bustiers. Whites and blacks with colourful accents are the main choices from Gorteks. Pricing is around 60 zt (~28 US and ~14 UK) for bras and probably half that for knickers.
