Infused with the deliciously essential oils of grapefruit, lavender (my fave!), and eucalyptus, Eucalan is available in a range of sizes from 100 ml to a 4 L. An unscented version is also available. Don’t forget the handy travel sized packets! And, that’s not all. Eucalan also features a line of ‘On the Go Clothing Care” featuring lint remover sheets and individually wrapped stain treating wipes. Now you can easily go green on the go. You’ll be in good company. This past spring, Eucalan was one of the swag sponsors for Suri Cruise’s birthday party!

Eucalan products are sold on their website as well as in retail locations worldwide. Don’t forget to tell us about your experience in our forums.

Several weeks ago, we told you about a survey which revealed that British women wash their bras only six times a year (on average). In that article, I discussed a proper lingerie care regimen, which is largely based around a good, reputable lingerie detergent. The makers of Soyelle sent me a few samples of the Soyelle Fine Lingerie Wash to try out, and I was very pleased with my experience!

Soyelle’s biodegradable and phosphate free lingerie wash comes in individual “unidoses.” Each dose is packed in thin plastic, so it is perfectly measured out – you don’t have to worry about fumbling with a measuring scoop. But the best part is that the plastic actually dissolves in cool water. So you just toss a packet in the water and you’re ready to go. When I used mine, I timed it, and found that it took about 30 seconds to dissolve. That’s more than enough time to round up whatever needs laundering, and it couldn’t be easier! These single doses also make Soyelle great for trips or weekends at the beach, especially since it also removes chlorine, suntan lotion, and salt water from bathing suits.

Laundering with Soyelle was pleasant and easy. There was a light, pleasant scent while I was washing my lingerie, but when I took everything off the drying rack the next day, the fabrics were scentless (which I was happy about, because then it doesn’t compete with my perfume!). I’m stashing these everywhere – in my laundry room, my overnight bag, my suitcase, and my beach bag. Soyelle is available in both hand-wash and machine-wash amounts, so you can always use just the amount of detergent that you need.

Soyelle not only offers lingerie detergent, but also many fun lingerie-themed items like brooches, sticky notes, linen fragrance, bra pads, cards, notepads, perfumed sachets, and cookie cutters. French customers can shop online at the Soyelle online boutique, or in more than 700 boutiques. If you’re outside of France, you can contact Kathryn at kkgsoyelle@aol.com to discuss ordering. If you are a lingerie designer or distributor, Soyelle can also work with you to create personalized gifts which you can give to your customers. Soyelle has already created partnerships with brands such as Antinea, Chantelle, Eres, Gossard, Lejaby, and Princesse tam.tam.

How often do you wash your bras? A recent survey by cleaning firm Dr Beckmann found that British women only wash their bras six times a year! Of course, this may not be a problem at all if you own a large number of bras – the more bras you own, the fewer times you’d be wearing them between your bimonthly launderings. But the same survey found that women own about 16 bras and wear them, on average, 7 times before bothering to wash them. Even Vivienne Westwood (right) has admitted that she never washes her bras!

Most lingerie professionals agree that while you don’t have to wash your bras after every wearing, you should wash after 2-4 wearings (allowing each bra at least one day of rest in between each wearing). Of course, you should use your own good judgement with this – you’ll have to wash more frequently if you’ve been sweating excessively or wearing perfumes or lotions. When laundry day does come around, a good rule of thumb is to hand wash using a detergent specifically made for lingerie (I like Forever New) – but be sure to check your bra’s care instructions first. A good lingerie detergent will actually help your bras stay in good condition for a longer time because it will help revitalize the elastic.

If you must wash your bras in a washing machine (which is not as good as hand washing!), be sure to fasten the hooks and put them in a lingerie bag. Set your washer to the most delicate cycle and use cool water. Most lingerie detergents will have machine washing instructions on them, so be sure to consult the bottle. After the washing cycle is complete, hang your bras or lay them flat to dry. Never ever put your bras in the dryer! The heat will destroy the elastic and your bras will die an early death!

Looking for lingerie bags or lingerie detergent? You can find them at Figleaves (UK/US), HerRoom, BareNecessities (they’re having a sale on their brand of lingerie wash right now!), Freshpair, or most other intimate apparel retailers.

The last couple months we’ve shown you a couple different bra drying solutions including the Bra Dryer and the Bra Smart Drying Device. We’ve found yet another (much more simple) solution called the Hook ‘n Dry. We talked to Hook ‘n Dry’s Diane Hassel about her product.

“I always hung my bras to dry in my laundry room using regular hangers and a few hooks I have installed. When my daughter became old enough to purchase expensive bras I had to find a place to hang many more wet bras every laundry day. To solve that problem, I invented the Hook ‘n Dry Hanger!”

“The Hook ‘n Dry Hanger has seven hooks on one hanger allowing you to air dry seven bras in a small space. The hooks are spaced evenly apart to allow maximum air flow between the bras and the hanger can be hung anywhere. It provides women an efficient space saving tool so that they don’t have to hang wet lingerie on towel rods, shower bars, door knobs and other improvised solutions. Many women have found that my hanger solves that universal laundry problem of where to dry your wet bras and lingerie.”

Check out HooknDry.com for more information and to go shopping!

I recently was introduced to the Bra Smart bra drying device at the Curve lingerie trade show and was instantly impressed! This innovative product allows your favorite bras to air dry and retain their shape in the process! As great as I am about handwashing my bras, I am guilty of hanging them on a hanger to dry because I have nowhere to lay them flat. Well, who knew there was a product to address just that!

Bra Smart works by providing ventilated molded cups that attach to a flat base. This allows air to flow evenly around your bra so that it dries quickly. Don’t have room to lay the device flat? Bra Smart comes with a detachable hook that allows you to hang it from your door knob, shower rod, or any other convenient location. Retailing at $14.95, this product is definitely worth the investment! Bra Smart can be purchased on SmartBroad.com which also features the Bra Smart travel accessory and more!

Need a demonstration to be convinced? See the video below.

I recently stumbled upon the website for the Bra Dyer, which is a patent-pending device for drying bras. This appliance is built around the idea that the best way to dry a bra is in the shape it will take when you’re actually wearing the bra – that is, in the shape of a female torso. Intended to dry bras faster than air drying and preserve bras better than a conventional dryer (which we all know you shouldn’t be using for your bras anyway!), the Bra Dryer uses a gentle infrared heat source and silent fans to wick moisture away from your freshly laundered intimates.

The Bra Dryer is currently only in concept, but is looking for investors. When it is finally in production, the goal is to have the Bra Dryer come in shapes and sizes much like traditional bra sizing, with size couples for band sizes (e.g. a size 30-32, a size 34-36, etc.) and silicone rubber breast pieces in cup sizes B-DD. The images available on the website show the control panel with settings designed for the specific bra you’re drying, so you can specify the type of bra (padded, soft cup, cotton, silk).

Personally, I would be interested to see how much this would really improve my laundering routine. I hand-wash my bras and then hang them or lay them flat to dry. I usually wash a couple at a time, so unless I planned on investing in quite a few Bra Dryers, this device wouldn’t really improve my drying time very much, unless I really wanted to wear a certain bra right away after washing it. In any case, I’ll be interested to see this in person once it is available for purchase.

This is our LAST reminder about the Forever New giveaway! The contest will be closed in a week, so get all of your entries in now! Four readers of The Lingerie Post will win a “For a Friend” lingerie wash + lace lingerie wash bag set from the popular lingerie detergent company, Forever New. For more information about the contest, just click the banner on our homepage. This set would be a great gift to accompany any delicate items you’re giving as a gift, whether it’s a lacy bra at bachelorette party or gauzy chemise you’ll be putting under the tree this year. It’s also a great way to treat yourself to something that will keep all your cherished lingerie in good condition for a very long time.I’ve never heard people rave about any detergent as much as about Forever New, and as promised here is another heartfelt testimonial from a fellow thankful customer. This one doesn’t mention lingerie specifically, but it does do a great job of showing you how gentle and powerful Forever New is.

After my mother passed away, I found in her belongings vintage fashions from the WWII era and the 1950’s, and handmade baby clothes that my grandmother had made in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s. Some of them were worn by my mother, then much later by me.

Your fabric wash and stain remover has been a blessing! It even got out baby food stains that had probably been there since I was born in the 1950’s. And it has been so gentle on her 1940’s fashions, including her Army Air Corp uniforms from WWII (she was a nurse and an officer, serving time in the Pacific during the war).

Bless you for your gentle products! I’m sure I will be back for more.

(Jacqui from Pensacola, FL)

Surely, if Forever New can care for handmade baby clothing that is over 100 years old, it is a great choice for more modern delicates! Remember, enter the contest now because it will be closed in a week!
