What Katie Did Seamed Stockings

1. If you need a garter belt, put it on now.
2. Make sure your feet are well moisturized, and that your toenails are trimmed and free of hangnails.
3. Take the same precautions with your hands. To be extra safe, you can use hosiery gloves to protect your stockings from your hands.
4. Grasp the opening of the stocking, and slowly gather the stocking into your hand. Continue down the leg until you have the whole leg bunched in your hands and your fingers have reached the toe.
5. Put your foot into the stocking. Make sure the stocking isn’t twisted. If you have a reinforced heel and/or toe, make sure everything is in the proper position. If your hosiery has a back seam, ensure that it is positioned correctly along the back of your heel.
6. Slowly pull the stocking up your leg. If you have a back seam (or other vertical decoration) you may find it helpful to do this in front of a mirror so you can check for squiggly lines as you go. If the seam is crooked, don’t pull on the stocking into position when it is already in your leg. Roll the stocking down to the area of the squiggle and carefully begin to pull the stocking up again with the line straight.
7. If you are wearing pantyhose, tights, or thigh-highs, you’re now done! If you are wearing stockings, it’s time to attach them to the garter belt.

But the best part is that the plastic actually dissolves in cool water. So you just toss a packet in the water and you’re ready to go. When I used mine, I timed it, and found that it took about 30 seconds to dissolve. That’s more than enough time to round up whatever needs laundering, and it couldn’t be easier! These single doses also make Soyelle great for trips or weekends at the beach, especially since it also removes chlorine, suntan lotion, and salt water from bathing suits.

Laundering with Soyelle was pleasant and easy. Most lingerie professionals agree that while you don’t have to wash your bras after every wearing, you should wash after 2-4 wearings (allowing each bra at least one day of rest in between each wearing). Of course, you should use your own good judgement with this – you’ll have to wash more frequently if you’ve been sweating excessively or wearing perfumes or lotions. When laundry day does come around, a good rule of thumb is to hand wash using a detergent specifically made for lingerie (I like Forever New) – but be sure to check your bra’s care instructions first. A good lingerie detergent will actually help your bras stay in good condition for a longer time because it will help revitalize the elastic.

If you must wash your bras in a washing machine (which is not as good as hand washing!), be sure to fasten the hooks and put them in a lingerie bag. Set your washer to the most delicate cycle and use cool water. Most lingerie detergents will have machine washing instructions on them, so be sure to consult the bottle. After the washing cycle is complete, hang your bras or lay them flat to dry. Never ever put your bras in the dryer! The heat will destroy the elastic and your bras will die an early death!
