Now I can tell you that they actually are!  I tested out the tights the other day and I am totally hooked!   I can confidently say these are the most comfortable and flattering pair of tights I have ever worn.

My favorite part of the tights is the waistband. In true Commando form, the wide, laser-cut waistband lies flat against your body leaving no lines under your most snugly fitting dresses eliminating those unsightly bulges that typical, elastic band tights leave. The tights themselves are soft, smooth, and sleek.  To add a little pizzazz, the waistbands of the black and brown tights are not only available in solids, but in paisley as well.  My wish is that the hosiery will be so successful that they branch out into patterns, textures, and more.

The tights are Wolford Fringe Tights, 100 denier, with five rows of fringing down the calf and to the ankle.  They cost £199 (about $320 and €215) and only a few hundred have been made. In this past year, hosiery has exhibited this trend.  According to sources cited in the Wall Street Journal, U.S. women’s hosiery sales have risen 2.3% over the past year.  Dan Sackrowitz, vice president of business development for one of TLP’s favorite online retailers, Bare Necessities, says that customers have been purchasing opaque or patterned tights as a way to update their current wardrobes.  He further remarks to the WSJ that sales of hosiery increased 60% in September and 70% in October.  Wow!  (See here for the full article.)

Trasparenze is an Italian hosiery manufacturer that has been making leg wear for more than 30 years. The brand is very fashion forward and shows well. As such, it is carried by many vendors. Click on the options for each listing to see other vendors. Pricing is from the corporate store.

On the left is the Cosette for $21.20. This pair of tights is an example of Trasparenze’s trompe d’oeil. They include ribbons and flowers detailing the back which looks like a classic seamed stocking. They are opaque on top which creates the illusion of a suspender belt. Options. On the left, the Francine hold-up and on the right, the Francine tights. The pinstriped leg wear looks like a lace up stocking, but it is just a print on the top of the thigh.
