They recently were interviewed by New York Magazine for a feature article honoring the 100th Anniversary of the Brassiere (see the article for more features including a piece on the mechanics of the bra!).Additionally, the website now displays pieces from the Fall/Holiday 2007 collection. I love how the collections always tell a story. For fall, a sassy and flirty vibe is evident through the names of the groups such as “We’re on a Break,” “Let’s Go Dutch,” and “Make Up Room.” Here are just a few for you to drool over!

You also may remember when they appeared in the April Vogue along with their luxuriously sexy (and much talked about) “Divorcee” set. I know I couldn’t wait for this exquisite, nautical-inspired collection to hit the stores. Well, the wait is over! These amazing pieces are now available in boutiques and online at retailers such as shopbop.com. My favorite color combination is the petal and walnut. The contrast of the pale with the rich, plus the punch of color (a turquoise braided tie), is just divine!

I love the name “The Lake and Stars.” What is the history of and how did you decide on the name?

We came across the name while looking through an old book about lost nicknames mainly having to do with sexuality, etc. We immediately knew that was the one. It was so obscure. No one had heard of it, and when you first hear it, it sounds really lovely and ethereal. But the meaning behind it (“the works in bed”, or “great in bed,” as in, “She gave me the lake and stars.”) is actually quite dirty. Perfect for lingerie! (Nikki)

Yes, we love the duality. It’s much like our personalities and contrast in sensibilities, definitely different on the surface. But as you get to know us, we reveal a diverse mix of qualities (much like our namesake!). (Maayan)
