“Janet and I wanted to create a collection that empowers women and that makes women feel sexy, flirtatious and provocative.”

42-year-old Jackson was excited about her new endeavor in a press conference announcing the brand:

“People have come to me with other ideas, but lingerie is a passion for me, and just like music and acting, I can’t do it unless I put 100% into it…There’s something for every woman, and that’s very important to us. I’ve always hated when lingerie is uncomfortable, so the fit and comfort was key.”

It sounds like the line will be classic and feminine. There will be a lot of satin and lace, as well as rich colors like burgundy, beige, silver, peach, black, and white. The first collection will debut in U.S. department stores this November with prices under $40. The collection will include 14 different bra styles, and will fit most women – the sizes range from 32A to 44G! The line will be launched in Australia, Japan, and Europe at a later date.

“It was a very easy association, as there are so many women who just can’t afford, and never will be able to afford, plastic surgery…To be totally blunt, one of the risks that can happen with some types of plastic surgery is that you can die.”

Rey aims to help women avoid both of these pitfalls of plastic surgery with the line, called Dr. Rey’s Instant Shaper. The line will include bras for women who have lost breasts to cancer, shapers that will imitate butt lifts, and pieces to imitate a tummy tuck with 24 intricate lines of fabric. Amid the myriad of shapewear available, Rey and Schiavi claim that their line will be different because the fabrics are breathable and surgically designed. “We’ve designed this collection out of need, not greed or vanity,” Rey said. The collection will be available in Australian department stores later this year and in the US beginning in September.
