What to Wear When Valentine’s Day is on a Monday

This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Monday. For me, that means the holiday will be pretty low-key. I’ll be meeting my guy for lunch at a favorite restaurant, but we’ll probably be spending the evening at home like a lot of other couples who have work or school the next morning.

By all means, pull out all the stops in the bedroom! But what about the rest of the night, when you’re enjoying dessert or curling up in front of the fireplace? Elle Macpherson Intimates has been one of my long time favorite brands. Each piece of each of the collections is intricate and creative. I’m amazed how the brand continues to design and produce more unique designs.

The Ari Dein Love Affair Continues…

The year is 1930. In a suite at the Waldorf-Astoria, a young woman awakes, removes her silk eye mask from her eyes, and lets in the sun on a beautiful June morning. She takes a deep breath, pushes back layers of the softest sheets, and slides her feet into her slippers as her nightgown falls to touch the tops of her feet. She wraps herself in a matching robe and walks over to the closet and admires the silk and lace that is her wedding gown on the morning of her wedding.

Fast forward 70 years to 2010 in the same Waldorf suite. Another young woman awakes, removes her silk eye mask from her eyes, and lets in the sun on a beautiful June morning. The sheets are just as soft and the atmosphere just as timeless although the nightgown is traded for a cami and shortie and her strapless gown is all silk.

While much has changed on Park Avenue, the essence and classic style of the 1930s remains in walls and halls of the Waldorf. It is no wonder that it was the perfect setting for the showing of the Ari Dein Collection including, Ari Dein in White, an absolutely exquisite bridal collection!

In the Micro Mesh range, there are four patterns (Deco Floral, Wild Paisley, Baby Bloom, and Tropical Holiday), with one arriving on the scene every month starting later this month. Influenced by art deco motifs found in the bedroom furniture of various Manhattan boutique hotels, Ari Dein style is nostalgic and evocative of an Old New York forgotten era. The pieces are crafted of 100% silk and produced in Manhattan. Georgette trims and other details are appliqued by hand.

Elle Macpherson Intimates Spring/Summer 2010

Elle Macpherson Intimates never ceases to amaze me! How they keep the great styles, colors, and patterns coming is beyond me. Spring/Summer 2010 is a lighthearted and fun collection featuring classic styles revamped in new color palettes as well as new silhouettes and patterns. Additionally, Elle’s D-G cup range has expanded to include even more flattering and flirty pieces for us full-cupped gals. No collection would be complete without the complementary afterwear chemises, camis, and culottes.

One of my new favorites is Tempting. The sassy leopard is a fresh take on animal print. Tempting is available in a contour bra, bikini, and thong. However, the true stunner is the chemise which features a sexy criss cross strapped back with a bonus black lace panel. To die for!

Starry Sky is a new take on the basic nude bra. Retailing at $50, this subtly sparkly contour bra is a great addition to any lingerie wardrobe. For those of you who want a bit more fashion forward fun, Starry Sky is also available in a festive Magenta. Choose from a corresponding bikini or thong in either color.

In the market for a strapless? Try Union. Also available in a contour bra, Union, is available in both American Nude and Jet and has a matching bikini and thong. The contour bra is also available in the beautifully rich Marsh Brown. Softer than chocolate this decadent color will look gorgeous against the skin.

The wonderful white Gala is sure to be popular in the spring and summer months. The underwire bra features a vertical cup which provides a gorgeous fit. The sweet chemise is guaranteed to look phenomenal against sun kissed skin. Not a chemise girl? Try pairing the cami and short. Fortunately, this range is also available in the D-G range!

Artistry is back again as a staple in the EMI collection. In Silver Coin and Deep Purple Artistry is one of the few collections to feature a boyleg panty in addition to the thong.

Sheer Ribbons, another popular EMI collection, is now available in two intriguing patterns. American Nude is a pattern featuring soft pinks and a pop of orange while Aqua features a subtle snakeskin pattern.

For those of you who love femininity, Sweet Briar, is for you. This delightful floral pattern is just splendid and is accented by sweet, girly lace. Darling!

The ever popular Spree is back! Fashion colors for this season include Marsh Brown and Regal Purple. And lucky us, the inky black, Jet, has become a new basic. Choose between contour or underwire, bikini or thong, chemise or short and cami.

Infused is a pretty patterned set featuring creams, peaches, and purples. I’m a big fan of the detailing on the strap. So sophisticated!

In the D-G range, Affair, is a phenomenal range. In Seafog Purple, this underwire bra is elegant and supportive. Festive staps make this set even more alluring.

Also in the D-G range, Cup Cake is an exquisite set in American Nude. With great shape and beautiful detailing, it is a winner.

Jenny Packham Lingerie: Breathtaking Chemises & Kimonos

Jenny Packham is a succesful fashion designer originating from London, who’s just released preview photos of a brand new lingerie collection. Some of you might remember Jenny’s work in 2006 when she collaborated with Wonderbra (you can still find some on ebay!), but I’m much more excited about this collection – which seems to be a lot more up the “Jenny-Packham”-Alley; focusing on forms she’s obviously more used to like chemises and kimonos, things she didn’t even try back in ’06 when she was working with Wonderbra.

We got our hands on these exclusive preview photos; and couldn’t wait to show them off. The details look great, the materials look great – and I love the shoulder lines on the kimonos that just create a more clothed look than most silk kimonos that hang straight from the shoulders.

I really think this is a unique and special collection – and look forward to seeing some of these pieces up close in real life soon. Has anyone had the chance to actually see any of these pieces? Let us know your experience through the comments!

I wish I could say: “check out the Jenny Packham site for more info” – but there’s nothing on there about these pieces just yet. However, in the future – there surely will be!

Natori Debuts New Prints

New fall 2009 pieces have just been added to Natori’s recently-revamped website and it’s safe to say that prints are going to be huge for her this season. Most of the new garments are classic silhouettes that have been modernized through heavy use of all-over animal, paisley and floral prints.
