Hi all,

We have had a break in at our storage at 219 Bow Rd in London and had 8000 units of our current collection A/W stolen last night. The police are investigating but if anyone is approached with Playful Promises stock that is not direct from us or sees it for sale in any unlikely places like markets over the weekend please urgently inform us so I can pass the info onto the police as you can image this has a phenomenal wholesale value and is a major problem for our small business.

Sorry for the impersonal nature of the email and it has gone out to almost everyone in my address book but I have a feeling the stock is going to show up in markets or sold in bulk for a discount as it would be quite hard to shift 8000 units of distinctive stock and feel the best chance of recovering it is by alerting as many people as possible who might see it floating about.

After the initial panic of trying to remember all of the days essentials (2 taxis were required to go and pick up our forgotten samples – oops!!) we were served cups of tea from beautiful china teacups by cute 1920’s flapper girl waitresses courtesy of the lovely Bettie Blythe, and devoured way too many cheeky knicker-embellished ‘Eat Me’ cupcakes by ‘The Great Cake Escape’!

The magnificent shabby-chic setting was perfect to view the new SS09 collections from Playful Promises, Lulu and Lush and Kiss Me Deadly!

The burlesque beauties, ‘Two To Tease’ featuring Cordelia and the dazzling Princess of Soho, Cheyenne Raymond showed off Playful Promises and Kiss Me Deadly’s saucy sets with a seductive strip-tease performance!

We have also discovered a great new way of designing future collections! We had a wonderfully hardworking production line of guests busy customising corsets, frilly knickers and candy-coloured girdles with an array of glittering Swarkowski crystals, lace-trims, flowers and bows!

Playful Promises’ new lingerie collection for 2009, “Dreams, Screams and Beauty Queens” is as glamorous and luxurious as the previous ones — which is a guarantee for beautiful and breathtaking 100% British lingerie! From their press release: “We’re casting a scathing gaze over the good looks and glamour of the all-American Pageants and injecting it up with some good ol’ British Rock ‘n’ Roll style.”

The first line, Miss Hollywood, sprawls seductively in her sumptuous boudoir draped in sexy black satin, while Miss Southern Belle looks as cute as candy with big lilac bows, sweet stitching detail and flourishes of frills.

Our punk temptress, Miss New York Doll leaves trails of envy as she flaunts her backstage pass; her red-hot ribbons and black lace embellishments drive any rock-star wild.

The frivolous and flirty Miss Showgirl teases her admirers in this sheer lilac tulle long-line bra and high-waist brief.

We also have entries from this silky trio: – Miss Hawaii in her sailor-tattoo inspired panties, the ever-elegant Miss Silver Screen adorned in her eyelash lace-trimmed chemise and how could we forget Miss American Pie in her gorgeous limited edition Silk Corsage colours – lilac and lipstick red.

Q: Why did you decide to start your own lingerie boutique on the net?
A: I have been passionate about lingerie since I can remember, but probably at the tender age of 15 I seriously started to care! I was never a big fan of lingerie shops although the shops as such can be gorgeous but for me, no cold boutique changing cabins… pitiless mirrors, shop assistants that tend to open the curtain while you are still standing there half naked trying to pull things over your hips…(I am sure there are some lovely sales ladies out there I just have never met one yet…) really traumatised me, trying on the delicious new garments with a glass of Champagne (or tea) & Candle light at home just made me become a passionate internet shopper!

My best friend being from London – and a big lingerie fan herself – helped me discover some very beautiful frilly lingerie delights from Uk designers and I just wanted to put together a selection of Must-Have items that I would love for myself and for my friends! So I thought why not taking it to the next level and open my own site with my favourite “lingerie artists”. I am a fulltime-working Mum (in the music business) and have been doing this on the side, but hopefully soon I can concentrate fully on all those glamorous Lingerie delights!

Q: What brands do you carry and which are your favorites?
A: I have selected my brands over a period of time and “hand picked” the items I sell! I discovered some amazing designers at the Paris Lingerie salon 2008 (at the Spicy Garden) and through blogs like The Lingerie Post.

I wanted suppliers that were not easy or obvious to find in France and it was a question of falling in love with the lingerie pieces.

The brands I carry are: Ophelia Fancy (my little favourite, designed by the lovely Stevi Jelbart and Emma Sandham-King), Miss La La, Ell & Cee, Carmen Gonzales (coming soon), some fun pieces from Carol Malony, I could not find Mimi Holliday on French sites and though it was so very gorgeous, I also supply Playful Promises and Odille which I thought have very beautiful pieces for a reasonable price, coming soon is Maya Hansen (amazing corsetry) and I just discovered the fabulous Vintage Opulence that I will show on my site very soon.

Q: Where do you hope to be a year from now, business-wise?
A: I hope in a years time things will have taken off and I can still be there and do what I love: run my fabulicious, delicious, utterly sexy online lingerie boutique!!

Especially for the Lingerie Post, Playful Promises have an exclusive look at never before seen images from the latest photoshoot for our Autumn/Winter 2008 collection – “Love Me”! It is so exciting seeing the designs come to life for the first time when the photos come back!

This is our current fashion range, which focuses on electrifying flashes of colour and strong, modern sculpted shapes and designs. The electrifying colours of precious jewels including shocking pink, and electric blue have inspired these dazzling creations. This diverse set of moulded bras and black lace are intermingled with oversized bows and buttons. With names such as “Tease Me” and “Flash Me” reflecting a playful vanity, this range encourages an attitude to flaunt.

We decided to express this playful vanity by using a specially built mirrored box. The photographer James Lightbown (jameslightbown.com) then worked out how to shoot so we could get the garments from the various angles without getting too much of the room in the images and then did an amazing job of making the mirrors disappear in photoshop!!

The photoshoot for this collection was great fun; things that seem to stand out in my mind are Make-up artist, Laura on hand to paint model, Rachel’s bum to make it look uber-perfect for the 360 degree mirror shots – Rachel calling, “More bum paint!” and Laura whipping out her shimmering body pigment and slapping it on with a brush! Oh the glamour!
