Fleur’t has been mentioned many times here on TLP. It is a personal favorite of mine! Every collection is well thought out and designed with a woman’s needs in mind. Both the Spring/Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 collections have added new touches, colors, patterns, and textures to the already successful boy pants, bralets, camis, and chemises. Women of all age groups and interests can find something to their liking in one of the many fleur’ty groups. Look below and find the fleur’t that fits you! Enjoy! classic fleur’t

Fleur’t is possibly best known for its super comfortable and super soft lulu’s boy pant! To accommodate the wide range of women who swear by this staple, lulu’s boy pant are now available in two new sizes – Petite/Small and Large/Large in addition to the already existing Small/Medium and Medium/Large! And the sizes aren’t the only new addition. Fleur’t has added an assortment of fun, eye-popping colors and cute, sassy patterns. I’m a fan of the solids papaya and pink lavender as the patterns lemongrass damask and rose giraffe! Also find these colors and patterns in the low-rise thong, lace v-thong, and g-string. The lulu collection, which in addition to the boy pant and low-rise thong, includes a bralet, criss-cross cami, lace strap cami, long cami, criss-cross chemise, and a new yoga pant! Mix and match them all for a cute and cozy look. The amber collection is a fleur’t favorite featuring pretty lace overlays. Again, the pieces in this group can be mixed and matched. In addition to the camis and chemise, the amber collection is noted for its delicate kimono robe. New to the amber collection are a lace bralet and matching ½ lace thong boy.

Spring/Summer 2008

The Spring/Summer collection is already in stores and will continue to appear in stores over the next few months. One new group for spring, valerie, features heathered rayon spandex in black and grey edged with ivory stretch cluny lace. Both the empire cami and chemise are marked by a very fleur’ty open front. The same stretch lace accents both the tunic and cropped ruffle pant.

I love the chantal group as it reflects a new trend in fleur’t lingerie – prints! Made of silk charmeuse and overlaid with lace, chantal is perfect for lounging or sleeping. In addition to hot pink and aqua, the lace bust cami and chemise and coordinating boxer short also is available in coral swirl or aqua swirl prints.

With spring comes an influx of weddings, so vanessa is perfect for the blushing bride. Choose from a lace front low-rise thong, lace bralet, and lace bust cami and chemise.

Speaking of prints (again), jessica is an all print group that evokes a youthful spirit! Pair the cami with the matching lace brief or long wide leg pant or the chemise with the lace v-thong. Prints include pink leopard, green floral, pink polka dot, and ivory polka dot!

If all of this wasn’t already enough, lulu has to make an impression on spring! Look for lulu in light, airy springy colors like white, sky, and pink! In April, lulu is available in pink, lemon, and seafoam before brightening things up in May with whimsical colors like fuchsia, papaya, and orchid. Perfect for the tropical vacation you will need around that time! After all that fun, it will be time for rest and relaxation. Muted colors like ivory, pink, and black are accented with a silvery shade called dove, reflecting the calm and serene onset of summer.

There are so many other exciting elements to the collection including more prints, more bright colors, and more styles. I love the low rise ruched back panty in the amy collection as I think the ruched looked is absolutely darling and flatters the female form. Additionally, it is edged with a sweet heart shaped elastic, which I am sure will make it popular with lots of ladies. I also like the agatha collection as it offers a new tunic dress for the client who wants a little more coverage. In the caroline collection, there are a range of styles with a variety of coverage options. Choose from the spaghetti strapped, lace bust cami and chemise or the lace tank and tank dress featuring wider straps for additional coverage.

Ready to buy? Where should you go to find fleur’t? Click here for a list of stockists or try online at Urban Minx (a new find for me). Images of the fabulous prints and other highlights of the collection will be up soon!

The flirty and feminine line, designed by Nancy Yoo, is one of my favorites because the collections (which include camisoles, chemises, bralets, and more) tell a story. I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy during the Lingerie Americas show in August and have since had the chance to ask her a few questions. I hope you enjoy hearing first hand about Fleur’t.

Could you introduce yourself, and talk us through how you ended up in the lingerie business after exploring so many other avenues?

My name is Nancy Yoo and I am the owner/designer of Fleur’t Lingerie. I ended up in the fashion industry because I think it really affords me the opportunity to wear so many different hats and also allows me on a daily basis to express my creativity. It’s no joke “ this is a VERY difficult business, but I still love that I am able to do so many different things all in the span of one week. I think lingerie is the most exciting growth area within fashion and lingerie people allow themselves to explore difference in a way that I think the ready-to-wear designers don’t or can’t. People in lingerie are a little more willing to take a risk. It’s fun and inspiring.

What was most important as you initially began to develop your collection?

Wearability and fit, first and foremost. And after that, color. Lots of it!

What was the most challenging part of the design and marketing process?

This is a business and that means finding out what sells and doesn’t sell, which collections are strongest and why and then making sure you can bring that spirit into the line again and again can make the difference between whether you’re going to survive or not. I’d say that’s the most challenging part of the melding between design and marketing.

Practically speaking, I think finding the right sales representative is the most difficult part of having a fashion business.

I think the name of a line speaks volumes. How did you decide to name your line “Fleur’t?”

I hired a friend of mine who is a branding genius. We had one breakfast meeting during which he asked me to describe my line in a few words. I said, “fresh, flirtatious and feminine.” He scribbled something down, held it up for me to look at and asked, “How about “fleur’t”?” I said, “Great!” And because we were friends, he barely charged me anything for his work.

Why do you think your collection has been able to stand out and be successful?

I think we offer something special but also very comfortable and comforting for women. Our fabric and laces are so soft and conform so well to women’s bodies – it’s the kind of lingerie that women wear for themselves. This has a strong, broad appeal.

Since you’ve experienced so much success with your collection thus far, how do you continue to create innovative pieces?

We are at a point where we really want to hone our branding process through creating our own prints and offering special Fleur’t packaging. We are also working on growing our loungewear into a solid collection that can be sold in ready-to-wear stores just as easily in lingerie store.

Which design (if you can pick just one!) is your personal favorite for next Spring?

The Amber bralette. It’s a bralette that’s cut out of our beautiful, rose galloon Amber lace and lined with lightweight nylon mesh. It’s available in white, black, lemongrass, orchid and sky. I am a 34C and cannot fit into other bralettes, but this one is a soft cup with a lot of support and great fit and coverage. Also, it’s just super pretty with lace that looks adorable peeking out of camisoles and button-down shirts. There is a matching low-cut lace thong boy as well.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

From a designer’s perspective, I would like to have branched out into ready-to-wear. But from a larger perspective, my husband (who works with me) and I have great dreams of creating this economically and ecologically responsible company that takes care of the people who devote their lives to it. We are into preventive healthcare and alternative medicine and want to create a wellness center at work for our Fleur’t employees. We are also very interested in fostering a work/play/live culture that’s closer to those in countries like France, Germany and Italy, where 5-6 week vacations are taken for granted. We are already looking at ways to increase our productivity by cutting our work hours down to 35 hours a week. I strongly feel that allowing ourselves rest and renewal time leads to higher productivity and overall happiness.

I have to say that designing clothes is a very rewarding part of what I do, but what truly excites me is knowing that I am in a unique position to create this dynamic, new workplace.

One of the things I loved about the trade show was not only discovering new brands, but also hearing about the new developments of some of my favorites that are more established in the industry. One of my favorite lines is sponsor of a previous giveaway, OnGossamer. This line is not simply resting on the laurels of its previous success, but continuing to stay fashion forward and expanding into new territory. Over the next few months, OnGossamer will be introducing some new, basic bra styles. And just in time for spring and summer, look to OnGossamer for a lot of fun colors and patterns. They will also be exploring terry cloth for the first time as well as a very soft microfiber that will be sure to feel delightful against your skin. In the meantime, continue to enjoy their classic and comfortable mesh collection available at some of our favorite retailers like Gigi’s Closet and Freshpair.

Another favorite, Fleur’t, continues to expand, particularly with the successful lulu collection (see my previous review). My favorite part is that these comfortable, mix and match pieces all tell a story or allow you to create your own. The fall color palate is beautifully rich and complements the colors of the season in shades such as sage, chocolate, wine, and fig. Look for the holiday collection to feature colors such as ruby, ink, and charcoal. Perfect for those cold nights curled up in front of the fireplace. Not only is the color palate expanding, but also the textures. Look for the addition of silks to the line up in the New Year as well. Sensual, luxurious, and totally fleur’ty!

We all love the amazingly beautiful and exquisite pieces by Elle Macpherson. (Apparently, we aren’t the only ones that have noticed as a lovely little number has been featured in the previews for the new ABC sitcom, Big Shots). This fall, prepare to indulge in retro inspired collections reminiscent of the 1950s. Designed to celebrate the female form, these collections utilize European silks and tulles, stretch satin, and georgette and feature an array of glamorous colors from lemon and watermelon to ink blue and copper. The intricate details such as ruffle trims and French embroidery complete the innovative look.

As we move into 2008, we will have even more to love. The 2008 collection, inspired by the luxurious 18th Century French monarchy, will be more feminine and soft, while retaining the tradition of beautiful craftsmanship and construction. This vintage collection will feature clean lines, light fabrics, and decadent detailing. With a range of colors from neutrals to brights, this collection will be sure to please. Stay tuned for pictures!

Imagine true comfort that allows your transition from day to evening attire without the worry of those annoying panty lines. Now imagine that it is sassy and sweet.

Well, imagine no more! Made of a special rayon/spandex blend, the Fleur’t ‘lulu’s delites’ boypant is a little piece of heaven. Not only is this best selling item super comfortable, but it also puts the fun in functional! The feminine and flirty lace edging makes it a prettier option than its granny panty counterparts. Now that it is summer in New York (and very hot), I’m an even bigger fan of the boy short. Summer for me means lots of dresses, and in case of that inopportune, wind-blowing-up-my-dress-like-Marilyn-Monroe situation, the extra coverage a boy short provides is essential. Available in an assortment of flavorful, basic colors (13!) and a slew of seasonal colors (to match all your dresses), these well designed undergarments are worth every penny.

And that’s not all. While the boypant is the signature item of Nancy Yoo’s Fleur’t, the line offers an entire range of fun, flirty, and comfortable bralets, camis, chemises, and thongs that will keep you cool during the hot summer nights. Unless of course you cause some fire of your own.

The ‘lulu’s delites’ collection includes, in addition to the boypant, a bralet, cami, and thong option. Other collections in “The Basics” include ‘colette,’ a floral net lace, ‘tabitha,’ a nylon allover rose lace (very pretty!), and ‘amber,’ rayon spandex overlayed with cross-dyed lace (and also featured in my first bridal installment).

The fall collections feature rich, vibrant tones like wine, chocolate, and cocoa – sounds delicious! I’m looking forward to checking out the chemises as well as the cozy capri pants perfect for relaxing around the house or somewhere more exciting!

Lucky for us, in 1999, Nancy Yoo, decided to forgo her plans of studying photography or music, and began Fleur’t. What started on a few cutting tables in a garage within months was selling out at the most exclusive boutiques in NY and LA. Almost 8 years since the line launched, Fleur’t is available at retailers nationwide and soon, internationally. With such growth, the company is now looking to open retail space in LA (let’s hope NY is soon to follow) as well as bring you innovative, organic cotton sleepwear. Wear pretty underwear and save the Earth at the same time? Ingenious!

Fleur’t products are found at a number of retailers (online try hipundies.com or herroom.com) and range from $22 for thongs to $56 for camisoles. And believe me, they are worth the investment!

For more information, see the website. Happy fleurt’ing!

With wedding season looming ahead, I’m sure many of you, like me, will be faced with the daunting task of purchasing a little something special for the bride-to-be. Since not all brides (or budgets) are alike, this can be quite a challenge. With brides representing a wide range of ages, styles, and sizes, one gift doesn’t necessarily fit all. The most important rule is to know thy bride. What’s hot, sexy, or sweet to you, may differ from that of said bride so be sure to take that into consideration. Not that every woman doesn’t have an inner vixen or isn’t willing to spice it up for her honeymoon, but you do want her to actually wear what you give her! My hope is that this guide will inspire you to choose the perfect gift for the bride-to-be and not break the bank (unless of course you can afford to)!

Our “Polished Princess” is our traditional bride-to-be. She is the epitome of classic elegance. For this lovely lady who wishes to keep the magic going during the honeymoon, this frilled bra and thong set by Charnos, available at Figleaves, is perfect. I love flirty little bows that accentuate this lovely set. It is the epitome of fun and elegance and at $84 for the set, it will be worth the splurge for the fun it will provide for the happy couple.
