In this past year, hosiery has exhibited this trend.  According to sources cited in the Wall Street Journal, U.S. women’s hosiery sales have risen 2.3% over the past year.  Dan Sackrowitz, vice president of business development for one of TLP’s favorite online retailers, Bare Necessities, says that customers have been purchasing opaque or patterned tights as a way to update their current wardrobes.  He further remarks to the WSJ that sales of hosiery increased 60% in September and 70% in October.  Wow!  (See here for the full article.)

The agreement has given Maidenform the rights to create a full collection of DKNY and Donna Karan inimate apparel, and this collection will be distributed worldwide in high-end department stores and specialty boutiques beginning in 2009. The Chief Executive Officer of Maidenform, Thomas J. Ward, said of the agreement,

“This relationship allows us to penetrate new channels of distribution and provides us with another method to drive additional sales growth in the future.”

The new DKNY apparel joins the other brands of the 85-year-old company, like Flexees, Lilyette, Sweet Nothings, Rendezvous, Bodymates, and Self Expresssions.

Nichole’s designs (and I’m quoting her website here): “are inspired by feminine strength as well as classical literature and architecture, and Nichole de Carle’s award winning first collection ‘DaVinci’ emphasises luxurious sensuality, with garments made from the finest silks from all over the world.”

The reason why we’re featuring the label now is because of TLP favorite Silk Storm stocking the brand from now on! They currently have an excellent basque and a bustier (with matching panties) on their website — but who knows, more may follow!

This lacy, ribboned set has a counterpart in DKNY’s Belle Du Jour underwire balconyicon ($32). The resemblances are striking: both are balcony-styled for a push-up effect, both areDKNY Belle Du Jour lacey, and both have boning-inspired ribbons on the cups. They even have similar satiny straps! The biggest difference is available panty styles – but DKNY has actually one-upped Elle Macpherson this time by offering a matching garter belt. Each brand has very nice reviews on Figleaves.com. The only caveat? It looks like these savings are only for US ladies. Figleaves UK is actually selling them both for the same price!
