Intimates by Bendon for The Limited will provide one stop shopping for their customers who will be able to not only purchase their basic blouses, dresses, and pants, but also the undergarments that enhance their fit.  The reasonably priced collection ($35 and $38 for bras; $14 and $16 for panties) collection, which will feature 12 coordinating bra and panty sets, will be available for purchase in stores as well as online at thelimited.com.

Five hundred guests, international models, local and international lingerie brands, entertainers and musicians participated in the high profile extravaganza. Some of the lingerie brands who showed their labels were Bendon, By Caprice, James & August, Triumph, UWC (The Underwear Club) and Zabu. According to newspaper reports, local participating models were Penny Picard and Tea Wood as well as Chantelle from America’s Next Top Model. Many other models from countries from around the world also participated in this extraordinary and worthwhile event.

With a goal of raising $50,000, thirteen designers created one of a kind items especially for the spectacular show. For a video report, click right here!

In addition to the added fitting room space, the newest concept store will be called Asian Exotic. In keeping with the oriental flavour, the store will have a Japanese Tea area where companions of the women shopping and the women themselves may sit and relax. The collection will include feminine bras, briefs, bodysuits, and chemises with prices ranging from $45 to $325. All of the pieces have sweet and girly names, like Daisy Dreaming, Eve Giggling, Mia Winking and Coco Blushing. Apparently McCartney is following the same aesthetic as her outerwear – frilly, coquettish, and super sweet!

“I wanted to give our shoppers unbiased information they couldn’t find anywhere else – not even in a retail store. The videos provide an impartial and equal comparison since the same model is wearing all the bras. Now you can truly know before you buy,” said Timima Edmark, CEO of HerRoom.com. “I believe it shows valuable information that every woman should see. It’s also patent pending.”

I don’t think I still have to stress the importance of a good sports bra here — so use the herroom info to your own advantage, girls!

Upon entering the ballroom after a cocktail party, guests took their seats around the runway where models were already placed on stage wearing designs from the competitors. Following dinner, guests were treated to the runway show and the presentation of awards. The competition in each category was tough indeed, particularly in the Best Fashion and Best D+ competition. That one is closest to the heart, of course.

Perhaps what stood out in my mind the most, that many others attending the event also mentioned, is that women of all shapes and sizes were represented in the runway show.

One line, Best Plus Size award winner Tia Lyn (also appearing at the trade show), is an all-inclusive line that spans sizes small to 3x. This vintage inspired line features a variety of chemises, gowns, camisoles, and panties.

Also a contender for both Best Plus Size and Best D Plus finalist, Empreinte, is seeking to become more of a presence in the U.S. with its beautiful and well constructed pieces for fuller figure women. This 60 year old company based in France offers numerous options in sizing (up to a G cup) as well as high fashion and glamour. I am most impressed with the delicate embroidery and variety of moods the collection fits.

Other contenders for Best D Plus include my personal favorites, Panache and Elixir, Barbara, and the amazing Australian based line, Bendon. So expect more about some of those lines soon!

Best Fashion was probably my other just-can’t-pick-my-favorite category of the evening. With TLP favorites Marlies Dekkers, Madame V, Chantelle, and Elle MacPherson and one of my trade show finds, Lou, it was stiff competition! Lou will be debuting this fall with parts of the collection arriving in both September and November so check your local boutique. Perhaps my favorite part of the evening might have been when the team from Marlies Dekkers was accepting their award and shared their design philosopy. They design pieces to please women, but if it also happens to please men, then that’s great. I like their way of thinking!

Overall, it was a phenomenal evening of great food, great conversation, and GORGEOUS lingerie. You can drool over all the beautiful pieces like I did! See the video coverage of the show at Zoozoom.com.

The pieces will not be on the affordable end of the spectrum with +/-$90 for knickers to $580 for chemises. That’s about the only information there is right now (thanks to Stuff NZ!), but we’re expecting more info on this very soon!
