On the Lookout: State of Undress

In 2004, 2005, and 2006, Alexandra Suhner and Emma Cheevers were the designers behind the State of Undress. Along with Spoylt, SOU seemed to have the tiger by the tail. They had good press and luxurious designs. But the corporate web site has gone dormant since 2006. There have been no new collections and the stockists are all but depleted or no longer carrying the brand.
Bijou Apparel has some SOU pieces on very deep discount – roughly 75% off. This may be your last chance to find this brand in new condition. If you know anything about the designers or the brand, please leave a comment.
Philanthropic Debut of Lingerie Miami Hosted by Eva Longoria

On February 7th, Eva Longoria Parker, Padma Lakshmi, and Deepak Chopra joined forces to present and speak at Lingerie Miami. The show was held at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and celebrated femininity and . The event was to benefit Brazil, Colombia, India, Jamaica, Mexico, and the USA. Marquis sponsors (Belvedere Vodka, Dom Perignon, MAC) joined top designers (Agent Provocateur, Carine Gilson, and Fifi Chachnil). Being a joint show for a celebrity cause, I doubt many new designs were unveiled at the show, but these three designers have deep trunks and I’m sure could put on quite a show. Check out more photos from the event at Getty Images. See more pictures of Mrs. Tony Parker at the Gossip Girls site.
Apparently, the event was a little chilly and Eva Longoria (usually seen in Spoylt on Desperate Housewives) had her own space heater brought in. The event was a sell out (starting at $500/seat) and properly launched a new philanthropic brand according to the founder Renata Mutis Black.

The New Spoylt

We’ve been discussing Spoylt’s new look in our forums, but in case you missed it we have some pictures of the new collection for you:
Back in May, we told you that things were changing for the company. It was unsure what would happen, but Spoylt is back! Fans of Spoylt will notice that things look pretty different this season. Everything has a bit less personality and fewer accessories (save for a few garters and some handcuffs), and less color than before. It all seems a bit more…generic. Don’t misunderstand me – most of the pieces are still very pretty in their own right. But when compared next to the old Spoylt designs, the new pieces leave me underwhelmed. I miss the matching robes, blindfolds, capelets, cosmetic bags, skirts, stationary, toolbelts, etc. that you could find in most of the old ranges. Spoylt’s specialty used to be frivolity – now it would be hard to say how the brand plans to stand out.
The good news for the lovers of classic Spoylt designs is that you can still find some of the old ranges even though there are new owners, a new website, and a new collection. Some are even still on sale. And, of course, if you like the new stuff even better, the good news for you is that (hopefully) you can look forward to more of it in the future!

Accessories for the Boudoir – Toolbelts

If you have read our article on masks and blindfolds for the boudoir and made a purchase, you are probably ready for more boudoir accessories. This time, TLP looks at utility belts for your lingerie kit. Visit our past boudoir articles on wallpaper, storage, lighting, furniture, and pillows.
Spoylt may well have invented the female utility belt. At the very least, they have made it sassy. They offer three choices including the Decadence, Mae, and Seduction. List prices are around $240, but they are 50% off.

Spoylt also offers this Temptation Party Garter for $75.00, but if you order quickly, Spoylt is offering 50% off.

f.online in Australia offers this dusty pink female tool belt. It is $90 US and is also available in leather by special order.

Female First is one of many retailers offering this Hustler brand utility belt. Click here for more retailers. Although it doesn’t show well in these revealing photographs, there are two loops in the back and possibly clips on the side. Pick it up for £39.99.

If you think of yourself as more pragmatic and crafty, Etsy may have a sensibly priced option for you at $25. It’s not quite as flamboyant as the other offerings, but would still look smashing with a matching pink set.

Honorable mention goes to the Xentials Thigh Highs. Read the TLP article from our archives. Read more

TLP has been covering Spoylt from the beginning of our site. It seems that cash flow issues have caught up with this company and their brand was transferred to the custodial duties of Gerald Edelman in the UK (as far back as October 2006).
Ian Douglas Yerrill and Bernard Hoffman of Gerald Edelman Business Recovery were appointed joint administrators of Spoylt Ltd. (Company Number 03864670) on Oct. 12.
Headquartered in Ashford, England, Gerald Edelman — http://www.geraldedelman.com/– is registered to carry on auditwork by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is authorized and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Gerald Edelman Financial Solutions Ltd. is an appointed representative of Independent Solutions Group Ltd. who is regulated by the Financial Services Authority.Headquartered in London, England, Spoylt Ltd. designs, manufactures and sells lingerie accessories to retailers online.

TLP recommends taking advantage of the year long 50% off sale at Spoylt because it would seem that once the inventory is gone, Gerald Edelman won’t be designing new lines. If you dig through our forums, you’ll find tips on buying Spoylt on Ebay.

Accessories for the Boudoir – Masks and Blindfolds

Filed under Agent Provocateur, Blindfolds, Eyemask, Leather Lingerie, Luxury Lingerie, Madame Khufu, Masks, Silk Lingerie, Spoylt, Three Wishes
The most common accessory for the boudoir is probably stockings to go with a suspender belt, followed by an elegant necklace, or some killer shoes. However, the mask may be the perfect complement to go with a special lingerie outfit. Often lingerie is about what it covers up rather than what it reveals and the mask is an extension of that fantasy. Masks and blindfolds are increasingly popular. Spoylt offers many blindfolds and likes to consider the blindfold as a dual purpose tool. First, it is blindfold, but turn it around, and it makes a lovely belt too. The Envy Robe is 50% off of the regular $395 price. That could be an expensive blindfold, but it does come with a lovely robe. The Innocence blindfold appears to be a padded blindfold with a long sash. Spoylt even shows it working overtime as a belt for your jeans.
Agent Provocateur can always be counted on for the cheekiest of boudoir accessories and they have their own spin on the blindfold. The picture will have to speak a thousand words in this case, but you can pick up this mask for $85.

If you like the idea of a mask (visible eyes) instead of just a blindfold, Three Wishes offers masks that range from $10 to $120. This is the Rocolo Mask. It is handcrafted with delicate sequence detail on the mask with elaborate hanging beads at the top of the mask, and a full crown bead detail for the bottom of the mask.

Madame Khufu hand crafts all masks in leather. These creations often extend into wispy tentacles and saucy horn shapes. Pictures below are the Medusa, Notorious, and Deep Roller. They range in price from $40 to $90. Madame Khufu is an artisan accessories shop and you can visit their site for more masks.

Gigi’s Closet has been one of TLP’s favorite retailers for quite some time, and as expected, they were eager to chip in for our gigantic Valentine’s Day Contest! From their stocklist including labels such as Aubade, Belabumbum, Felina, Huit, Spoylt and many more, Kristina picked the Eberjey Heart-to-Heart chemise to be the prize for one of our lucky winners.
“All-over hearts eyelet surround the bodice which features triangle cups and a narrow elastic band for great fit. Satin ribbon straps are adjustable. The skirt is double mesh with a lettuce hem in two layers.”

Pudding – Reading’s first luxury lingerie salon

Reading’s first luxury lingerie salon, Pudding, recently held its official launch party in The Walk, King Street, next to the Oracle. The party featured specially created Pudding cocktails, mini Pudding cakes , a fabulous catwalk show to unveil the Pudding collection as well as a charity prize draw in association with the Reading footballers’ wives’ ‘Royal Families’ charity.
Readers who have not yet heard about Pudding can be forgiven for thinking it’s an odd name for a lingerie shop! That’s because Pudding is far more than the average lingerie shop. Its owners, Helen and Paul Masters, describe it as ‘a luxury lingerie salon, where shopping should feel like a real treat…they want their customers to indulge!’
Their opening catwalk show featured an exclusive range of the world’s best brands, most of which are completely new to Reading. As Helen described, “Shoppers in Reading told us that they’d love to be able to treat themselves to world renowned luxury brands like Rigby and Peller, La Perla, Myla and Roberto Cavalli but until now that has meant a trip to Harrods or maybe an out of the way lingerie shop. There’s also a real demand for expert fitting and a wider size range than other high street stores offer – that’s where Pudding can help.”

Pudding was created to bring luxury lingerie to the high street for the first time and to offer a retail therapy treat for the woman who wants the best fitting and best looking bra , a divine pair of knickers or a stunning piece to wear on the beach that no-one else will have! Bras start at £32 so Pudding also have made luxury affordable to lots of shoppers.
Helen says she is very keen to encourage the women of Reading who haven’t been professionally fitted by a lingerie specialist to come and give it a go : ‘It’s free, fun and can instantly help you look half a stone slimmer and give you a trimmer waist . People often walk out of the salon wearing their new bra after a fitting because they love the change in shape it gives them so much that they don’t want to take it off!’ says Helen.
With more than 50% of Pudding’s research group admitting to having returned lingerie bought for them by their partner, Pudding also offers a tailored gift buying service for men, complete with gift buying advice; luxury gift wrapping and beautifully presented gift vouchers. As Paul, co-owner says “We also have a wish list that our customers can fill in to give some hints to their partner…so now there’s no excuses for buying dodgy gifts in the wrong colour or size!”
