Her Rich Attire Creeps Rustling to her Knees

Did that title get your attention? It’s the phrase Strumpet & Pink have on their website, and it’s some of the only text on there that isn’t purely informational. The lingerie itself makes the statements, which is really the only way to give justice to it all.  I always love looking at pieces from Strumpet & Pink – although I obviously appreciate so many different kinds of lingerie, this is one of those exquisite lines that just makes you stop dead in your tracks and let out a little gasp when you see all the perfectly executed buttons, ruffles, ribbons, and chiffon. It reminds me of icing on a cake – perfectly sweet and fluffy, almost too pretty to use!

According to Glamorous Amorous, Strumpet & Pink was founded in 2002 by Lisa Z Morgan and Melanie Probert. They focus on limited-edition handmade knickers, using pure silk, satin, chiffon, and crepe. Morgan and Probert say of their creations,

“Our prime concern; how does a woman actually feel when she wears one of our creations. It is this experience that makes our knickers beautiful. Strumpet & Pink achieve this by embodying the sensibilities of the flower i.e beauty, fragility, sexuality and joy and combining these with the sensuous qualities of pure silk crepe, satin, chiffon and tulle. The knickers are cut on the bias in such a way as to trace and disclose the contours of the female form. Our knickers brim with contradictions; they feel beautiful, sensuous, humorous, naïve, sexual, confident and playful. Each pair holds a discovery…”

The only drawback? The price. You’ll have to save your pennies for these – if you even have to ask, you probably can’t afford it Prices vary, but you can expect to pay £200 to over £500 for these beauties. So for me, they will remain firmly in my dreams! But if you can spare the cash, you can find a selection at Glamorous Amorous, Catriona MacKechnie, Coco de Mer, and Faire Frou Frou.

Mimi Holliday Beach Wear Spring/Summer ‘08

I have quite a few vacations planned for the summer, so I’ve been hunting around for the perfect new bathing suit. Guess what I discovered? Mimi Holliday has a new beachwear collection for 2008! If you haven’t gotten a new bathing suit yet this year (like me), you’re in luck because now you can pick up the sexiest, chicest bikinis around from the “little sister” brand of Damaris. You can indulge in classic triangle tops, halter tops, or the sexy and supportive balconnette style (my personal favorite, as it’s a sultry silhouette less common in swimwear). After a dip in the pool or the ocean, cover up while lounging around the beach with the flowy and just-revealing-enough tunics. There’s something for everyone: ruffles, brass buttons, utilitarian rivets, and trendy graduated dot patterns. Are you ready to turn heads?

Eva Green in Fifi Chachnil Lingerie

Ah Eva Green! We all loved her in Casino Royale and Kingdom of Heaven, but I for one love her a lot more in Fifi Chachnil. A big thank you goes out to Faire Frou Frou owner Alison Rubke for giving us the heads up!

On the Lookout: Vagin Pouvoir

Maurenice Bisono created the Vagin Pouvoir line of lingerie. Pouvoir roughly translates to “power” in French. The rest of the translation is up to our astute TLP readers.

“Born into a family devoted to fashion, making beautiful clothing is Maurenice’s focus and drive. Under the watchful eye of her mother, Maurenice learned to sew at the age of five and by age seven, Maurenice was making her own clothes and tending daily to her mother’s women’s fashion store. When she moved to New York from the Dominican Republic she instantly fell in love with architecture and the fine arts. Today, she continues to draw inspiration for her designs from these early influences. Bisono commits her passion, expertise and skill in every lingerie collection she designs creating an innovative product that stands apart in the commercial marketplace. Unfortunately, it looks like the brand is no longer. The web site is currently in the hands of an adult-centric domain squatter (use caution to visit).

Some parts of the collection are still available from Glamorous Amorous and one size M knicker is at Nancy Meyer, but previous stockists (Catriona Mackechnie and Faire Frou Frou) are no longer carrying the brand.
