The Best Big Knickers
I don’t think it’s a secret that larger panties have been growing in popularity lately, as big knickers are snapped up for their retro charm and vintage influence. But now Figleaves is backing up our bigger-is-now-better observations – the lingerie giant reports that larger panty sales are up 28% in the last year.
Nicky Clayton, Rigby & Peller‘s creative director, says:
“This season big is definitely beautiful. They are sexy as well as comfortable…There is now more detailing: lace, ruffles and accessories that accentuate rather than just cover up what can be a lady’s best asset…Women want glamour as well as comfort now and G-strings are definitely being squeezed out by this trend.”
If you want to try the trend but are uncomfortable with the extra coverage, or if you can’t get over thinking of bigger knickers as “granny panties,” look for styles with cutouts, sheerness, silky textures, or seductive embellishments. It’s about balancing the extra fabric with details that reveal and accentuate your best areas. Here are some of our favorite big sexy knickers:
Are you into the big knicker look? Are you a devoted g-string fan? Somewhere in the middle? Tell us in the comments!

These just don’t work for me. Most of the time I don’t even like the look, but on my body, it just looks wrong even when I do…
No, don’t like it…it does not look sexy at all…agree with Mandolina, don’t like the look and it does not look so flattening. Bikini or Brazilian cut is definately sexier, looks great on and it’s my favorite!
Some where in the middle send me a pair
I love the trend toward bigger panties. Some of us just don’t look good in teeny, tiny g-strings, thongs and ultra-low-rise undies. The problem is, as in most things, when the pendulum swings, it swings too far. Why is everything either tiny or huge?
Some of the examples shown here are nice. I love the Wacoal brand, and I think Secrets in Lace makes lovely things, but for crying out loud, whatever happened to the in-between style of high-cut bikinis? They fit on the hip better than low-rise, but they don’t look like grandma’s leftovers!
And satin. Where did satin go? For the life of me, I can’t understand why it’s no longer possible to find a satin, high-leg bikini panty, maybe with a cute little bow and/or some lace embellishment, anywhere in any store, period.
It seems everyone has to outdo the others in trying something “new,” with weird cuts and big hearts on the behind or whatever, rather than simply making comfortable, practical, yet very feminine and sexy underwear.
There. I’m done!
I like the IDEA of vintage style panties and they look great on the model. I like the Lise Charmel “Princese De Coeur” as well as the french knickers but I wouldn’t wear it. It just is not as sexy in practice as is in theory. But the pictures look nice.
I am totally for big knickers. Most of all I am for the really big knickers, secrets in lace has the right idea. In general, my knickers shopping do seem to follow this trend. The way they are cut, from waist to legs, it’s the right place to have things cut on my body, no bulges, it looks and feel right because it doesn’t interfere. I don’t mind the Granny panties thing actually, it’s fine by me if they are properly full cut panties that they are plain and dull looking black or white or something (not beige). Of course, I am now exited that maybe, there will be big selection of the not dull looking ones.
With strings or other very small things, I just feel it’s desperatly trying to hold on, it’s so tiny it looks weird. I’ve had some luck with tings in between some can be flattering, but they aren’t as comfortable, and I don’t feel the same. However since I like pretty lingerie, I sometimes have to buy something that doesn’t follow the rules, just because it’s pretty. So I kind of disagree with you all
I’m also a big knickers fan. They’re so much more flattering than itty bitty panties.
i hate g-strings and thongs but also hate big knickers.
I prefer low rise brazilian tangas with moderate to small coverage…
I might also say I’m a fan of bigger panties – boxer shorts to be exact! They breath and if they’re made of the right material – silk, lace, extra fine cotton – they feel super luxurious. I didn’t actually believe it at first but undergarments actually do make a difference with your feminine health, too… (I started to use boxer shorts when my ob/gyn told me to). Sure, they were a bit weird at first but I wouldn’t change back any more. And I find the combination of boxers and stay-ups or boxers and garterbelts and stockings to be classy, sexy and comfortable!
I definitely love the look of these knickers, I do, but I also know they wouldn’t really flatter my not-so-hourglass-y body!
(you know how love handles react to these kind of pants..) I also think these, as most of normal womens’ panties, would be way to tight to be all that nice to wear. If I was slimmer and less tummy-y I would love to go for these!
I agree, why can’t we just have something in between? I like the idea of big knickers too, esp. the high waisted control-panty style, like the stuff strumpet and pink are doing. However, if the top sits below the belly button, it’s too low and if it has too much rear coverage it’s not flattering either, both just end up looking like mum’s pants. I’ve varied in size from a 12 to a 6 and everything in between and my arse is probably my worst asset, so I’ve always found a brazilian cut to be most flattering, it makes my bum look a lot perkier than it actually is. Low rise bikinis are great cos they elongate the torso as well as the legs but thongs are just skanky- i want my underwear to look just as good tossed on the floor as it does when i’m wearing it (cos let’s face it, it spends more time there than it does on, if it’s doing it’s job right anyway!
All these ladies giving your ideas on what looks sexy on them – Surely its what the blokes think you are sexy wearing that matters.
You are always telling men that size is not important – well listen to your own advice.
There are very pretty knickers in all shapes and sizes. It has got to be more important to be comfortable in what you are wearing – They are there to contain your lovelly bits and not to floss your bum !
Wearing a bigger pair of knickers is much sexieerr to a bloke – He likes to imagine what he is missing under that lovelly material – and then it is up to you when – or if – he is allowed to see the contents. . .
I love big knickers white silk or satin with frills on them – very feminine and sexy. Reallyu nice with the glossy tights too and pleated skirt and if the woman has a jennifer lopez style bum(and a bum like back end of bus without cellulite-all the better)
