Cynthia Rowley to Launch Lingerie-Inspired Shapewear
Cynthia Rowley has teamed up with United Legwear Co. (the exclusive licensee and distributor of the brand’s bodywear, legwear and hosiery) to produce a new line of shapewear that promises to find the perfect balance of fashion and function. The designs were inspired by lingerie, so not only will the new shapewear give the wearer a svelte shape, it will also be attractive and give consumers new options other than the traditional nude, white and black pieces.
“Customers now understand and demand the benefits of shapewear. New technology allows shapewear to look more feminine while still being functional, so customers aren’t as put off by what they see on the rack. However, there is still a gap between shapewear and high-end design, which we aim to close with the Slim collection,” president of Cynthia Rowley, Peter Arnold, told Women’s Wear Daily in an interview.
Slim by Cynthia Rowley — which, according to WWD, will launch in the fall at upscale department stores, boutiques, online and in Cynthia Rowley stores — will include attractive high-waisted panties, slip dresses and bras. The line will have its official debut at the Coterie tradeshow and will be priced between $118 and $226 once it hits stores. Sizes will be S to XL and 32B to 38D.
