Dress Up Like a Pin-Up: “The Wrong Nail”
Everybody loves an old-fashioned pin-up girl – they are sweet, sexy, and glamorous all at the same time! So who better to draw inspiration from? Here is one of my favorite pictures by Gil Elvgren, and some modern lingerie you can use to recreate the look. There are links below the pictures to the websites where you can buy any of the items mentioned. Keep your eye on the TLP, because we’ll have more of these “Dress Up like a Pin-up” features in the future!

Love this article, I have been dressing like the Petty Girls for years. Thanks Kelly!
Love this idea. Looking forward to more of these in the future.
I love it too. Kelly, you might be one of the most creative bloggers I’ve ever seen. So proud you’re doing it here! xoxox
lustlicker – I’ll be sure to do some Petty in the future! While writing this batch (more to be published soon) I focused on Elvgren just because he’s one of my favorites, but I know I need to start doing others’ favorites too
Pinup girl looks are fun! Larger cup and plus-size ladies can rock this look. After all, it’s easier for them to get those old-school bras…
Elvgren is amazing, he brings a true innocence to his paintings. Vargas was also wonderful, his have a more sultry, sexy feel to them. All great stuff, I look forward to more!
OMG Kelly this is awesome! write more like this, you know there are so many possibilities based on all the vintage pinups out there! xo
This is a wonderful idea! What a great place to get inspiration. I love that you took your modern pieces directly from the pinup. Genius! I do something similar to this on my blog, but I use the site Polyvore to create my inspiration boards. That site would be perfect for what you are doing here!
I just had a thought. If you look at the bra in the painting, it looks like a lot of retro styles I see on some websites. Not quite the same, but hey, you get the idea.
Since a lot of larger cup sizes (for either slimmer or plus-size women)can be pretty “old-school” (they can look like something your grandma wore), maybe pin-up looks can be done with THOSE bras too! Here’s an example: http://www.secretsinlace.com/product/105/62
