Lingerie for Barbie

Like most little girls, I had a Barbie doll when growing up. I often wonder what happened to her and the little accessories I owned. My Barbie had the most beautiful clothing, as they were custom made by a family member. Thinking about my precious doll made me wonder about the lingerie that is sewn for today’s Barbie dolls.

I took a peek at a couple doll forums and was impressed to learn that Barbie doll clothing designers have more requests than they can handle for Barbie bras and panties. Next in line are Barbie pantyhose. How on earth does anyone make such little hosiery? The whole task of sewing such little undergarments must be painstaking although I am sure the Barbie lingerie seamstresses complete their task with love and care.

I found a sweet bra and panty set on one lady’s site who sells Barbie clothing. It was made from Tricot and lace and offered in white, peach and baby blue. Another site had custom designed camisoles in silk and lace. And yet another site was selling strapless bra and tap panty sets.

When I was young, we would not have thought about lingerie as important on our dolls as we wanted others to see the fabulous dresses, but I guess nowadays, with lingerie as popular as it is, Barbie needs to be fashionable as well.
