And so we ask, “What is a hip-t?” According to the Californian creators Christine Meeks and Kelley DeSerpa, the hip-t is a noun meaning “stretch fabric hip wrap worn over your jeans, and under your shirt: create sassy layers without the t-shirt tangle and prevent rear view sneak peaks”.

Having launched the nifty hip wrap in October 2007, it is quickly becoming popular due to the very recent interview on Donny Deutsch’s The Big Idea, as well as showings on various other television programs. The purpose of the hip-t is three fold including the prevention of “butt-crack”, stopping the appearance of unsightly skin or flesh commonly referred to as “muffin-top”, and deterring the emergence of panties and thongs at the back of jeans, shorts or skirts.

The original hip wrap came in white, pink or black with lace bottoms but now so many more colours have been added as well as bigger sizes up to 3X. Made of cotton and spandex, this simple yet effective garment really dresses up an outfit while providing a real purpose.
